Here they sat. Waiting for the light to turn green. It was moments like this where Alex began to contemplate things. Sometimes it was case related. Other times it was connected to whatever was going on in her life. This time it was the latter.

There was a time when Alex Eames was looked upon as an ice queen. Never faltering from her stoic expression and all business attitude. Then, she was partnered with the "resident wack job". Whether is was his quirks, his undying determination for the truth or the feeling she got when he was around, she couldn't tell. She felt safe. Safe in the knowledge that no matter what happened, he'd be there. She could not ask for more. Why would she want to?

Slowly but surely the ice that encased her heart began to melt. A few times it had frozen over. That was more out of habit than necessity. It was only in those times where she didn't feel the warmth she had grown accustomed to feeling with him around. Just as quickly as she felt the sting of the ice, it had relinquished it's hold and faded away.

"Nothing like a nice spring thaw to brighten up the place." His voice filled the empty space in the SUV. She turned and smiled.

"You have no idea."
