Dream within a Dream
Summary: Dream within a dream. But what part was the dream? Was my life, my memories, a mere dream? My version of Sleeping Beauty with a slightly angsty/not-very-Disney twist!
Disclaimer: T_T Do I HAVE TO? … Fine. I *choking a sob* don't own 'The Legend of Zelda. *sob*
A/N: Hi! I'm back! This a small (maybe) story, but, for the time being, I'm going to type small ones 'til I get better at this sorta stuff. So, I decided to re-make all the fairy-tale classics Zelda style. Slightly angsty-romantic style. So any helpful criticism would be much appreciated. (Flames, however, will be laughed at)
Once upon a time, as most stories go, there was new baby Princess born into the world. The kingdom was in celebration of the Queen's successful delivery, and for the beautiful child.
The Goddesses, in sacred tradition, were giving the Princess gifts. Wondrous gifts like beauty, grace, intelligence, and many more.
But, right before the last gift could be given, a disgusting old witch appeared. "Now, now. Can't have another Hyrulian royal prancing about, can we?" She cackled.
"But this is an easy accident to fix. On her 16th birthday, she shall prick her finger on a spindle and die!" She screeched, splashing her magic on the sleeping infant.
"NO!" But, before they could do anything, the witch disappeared.
Still slightly in shock, the last Goddess came up.
"I may not be able to remove the curse, but if she pricks her finger she will fall asleep for a hundred years." She said softly.
Naturally, the castle was mortified at the chance of losing their precious Princess. So, as ordered by the King, every spindle in the kingdom was hastily removed and destroyed. Or, so they thought.
*16 Years Later*
"Zelda! Get back here!" One of Zelda's geometry teachers called.
She sighed, debating whether to get out of her hiding spot in the bush or not. She had nothing against geometry. But her teacher was just so critical about everything pen-stroke she made.
Deciding not to test Mrs. Louctrès' impatience, she stood up and began making her way through the halls back to the study room. As she walked, she heard a strange noise coming from one of the stairs she was passing.
Hesitating at the thought of dealing with an angry geometry teacher, she decided to go check out the unfamiliar sound. "If I'm going to be in trouble, I might as well make the most of it." She thought.
She crept up the dark stairs until she saw an old woman in a small room, doing something with a strange object.
" Hello? What are you doing?" Zelda asked softly. "Making a dress. Would you like to try? The old woman asked, knowing full well what Zelda's reply would be. "I'd love to! But….how can this make a dress?" She asked, curious as a cat. "You'll see."
Sitting down at the spindle, Zelda gazed at the needle with fondness. Unknowing her fate, she touched the needle a little to fast, drawing blood in the process.
She blinked, and placed the cut finger in her mouth, tasting the metallic blood before the world before her swirled and grew dark.
'Where am I?'
A/N: Yeah, yeah I know. This is just like any other Sleeping Beauty scenario. But there is a twist coming. Mr. 'Prince' *coughLinkcough* will be coming to the rescue, but will he really be rescuing her from an awful fate? You'll have to find out! Please R/R!
Ciao!
