The Block's Estate
Massie's Bedroom
Friday, February 16th
5:25 p.m.
Massie applied some Lavender Love lip-gloss on her lips, the newest flavor in her Glossip Girl collection. Life was happy ever since she got back in OCD. Tomorrow would be the Love Struck Dance and her friends would have to choose what to wear. Massie had to be 10 out of 10. Not 9.9 but 10. Her charm bracelet tinkled against her skin and she let out a sigh.
"Hey!!" Claire ran down the stairs. "I was just exploring, where have you been?" She slowly chewed an orange gummy from the bag she was holding. "Want one?" she offered Massie. "They're the newest flavor, Soda Fizz Orange."
Massie rolled her eyes. "Kuh-laire, can't you see I'm trying to lose weight not gain weight. The Love Struck Dance has to be perfect and gaining weight is not part of it."
Claire nodded apologetically. She ran to the window that was covered in pink roses. "Uh….what did you do with this window?"
"It's February…romance and dancing and partying." Massie pinched a string off her red suede. "So what do you think of this red suede?"
Claire smiled, "It looks perfect on you. I rate it a 9.6."
"I think it's a 9.9…quote, you said it looked perfect on me, un-quote." She walked toward Claire and saw Alicia's car parked outside. "Kuh-laire, go get the chips".
"I thought you were losing weight?" Claire playfully asked.
Massie ignored her question and walked out the door.
The Pretty Committee sat on the purple beanbags that Massie had just got to finish her 'royal look'.
"As we all know", Massie paused for dramatic effect. "Tomorrow is the Love Struck Dance."
The girls squealed and giggled, daydreaming about their romantic night at the Love Struck Dance.
"But…we must appear like goddesses not peasants goddesses." Massie's excited face showed in the dim purple light. "So tomorrow we are going shopping!!!"
Kristen stifled a cry. "I don't think I can go."
"Your mom can be such a pain," said Dylan. "Tomorrow is the day I turn a non-lip virgin. And you can't miss that!"
Kristen eyes sparkled playfully along the dim light. "I'll go."
The girls squealed and hugged Kristen for making the right choice.
Alicia ran to the closet and came out with a purple lace scarf. "I'm bored, isn't this supposed to be a sleepover?"
Massie rolled her amber eyes, "Kay, I have Baked Lays and music."
Kristen fell on the ground with a muffled giggle. Hopping around in a long pair of pants, Claire applied some lipgloss that stood abandoned on the table. Alicia tucked in a long strand of hair behind her ear and started shaking her hips to Walk Away, by Kelly Clarkson. Sitting on Massie's bed was Dylan munching on some chips.
"Just walk away!" sang Massie to the booming stereo. She knew her father would soon come up and make her lower the stereo volume. But that didn't matter today, because tomorrow was her chance to SHINE.
Alicia grabbed a pillow and started hitting Massie with it. "This is awesome!!!" she shouted over the stereo.
"I know!!" replied the girls in fits of giggles.
"APPLE-C!!" they shouted.
"Apple-C!" shouted Claire. She hopped on Massie's bed and started to imitate the songs on Abby Boyd's ipod playlist.
"HONEY, ITS TIME TO GO TO SLEEP. IT'S ELEVEN THIRTY!" shouted Kendra; she was wrapped in a pink silk kimono.
Massie closed the stereo and wrapped herself in her purple fuzzy sleeping bag.
"G'night", Kristen muttered.
"Sweet dreams," whispered Massie. She rolled around until she found her purple rhinestone pillow.
"Love Struck Dance," murmured Alicia and Dylan.
"Kisses and Hugs," giggled Claire. It came out like, "Kithes and huts."
Massie sighed and forced herself to sleep.
