He took a deep breath and knocked on her bedroom door, his mistake repeating over and over again in his head. Katara hadn't shown any outright anger, but she'd avoided him the rest of the evening...well, no one was really in the mood to socialize after seeing what they'd just seen, but still. He could have kicked himself a thousand times for what he'd done, and it still wouldn't make up for it.
Of course she wasn't sure, he'd kissed her at the invasion and flown off before she had a chance to say anything.
"Aang?"
He looked her in the eye, twisting his fingers nervously.
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry. For earlier," he said. "I guess I just..." Thought he could sweep her confusion away with a magic kiss? Let himself get so insecure he thought a scene in a stupid play was a reflection of reality? Was just plain stupid about love? "I don't know. I was just stupid tonight, I guess," he finally said.
She smiled a little and pulled him into her arms.
"Just don't do anything like that again, okay?"
"I won't," he murmured against her shoulder. "So you don't hate me? We're still friends?"
"Of course! You made a mistake, there's nothing to hate you for."
He nestled closer to her, and for the first time that night, he smiled.
