In the garage, Kevin was working on his car. He didn't even know someone else had walked in nor was he expecting an energy ribbon to pull him out. "What was that for…" He paused.
"Hey, nice to see you, too." Gwen said.
"Whoa." She was wearing a shirt and her hair was up in a ponytail.
"I thought of going for a new look." She told him. "What do you think?"
"It's a nice color on you." Kevin told her. "It looks nice with your hair."
"Thanks." Gwen said. "You don't look too bad yourself. New job?"
"Yeah, a friend set me up with a job at an auto shop." He explained. "This is the only uniform they had left."
"I think it looks nice." Gwen said. "So, you wanna take a break from working on the car?"
"I could use one." Kevin said. "What's Ben up to lately?"
"Who knows?" Gwen said. "There's hardly anything to talk about. He usually either stays at home or is out with Julie."
"He thinks he's so cool just because he saved the planet." Kevin said.
"I know, I need a break from just thinking about what happened then." Gwen said. They laughed. "Let's go." The two of them were walking to the park.
"So, what have you been up to lately?" Kevin asked.
"Just flipping through some old spell books." Gwen explained. "It's strange how I used to do them all the time."
"Yeah, considering you're really…"
"Please, don't even go there!" Gwen blushed. "I was so embarrassed when I actually let it out."
"Sorry." Kevin said. When they got to the park, he found that he was alone. "Gwen?" He asked. "Where'd you go?" Suddenly, she jumped off one of her magic steps in mid air and landed behind him. "Whoa! Don't do that again!"
"You wanna make something of it?" Gwen asked. A half second later, they were on the ground, laughing.
"You really surprised me for a second, Gwen." Kevin said.
"I've been working on that move to get the advantage on any enemies." Gwen told him. "I've finally got it down." The two of them watched as the sun began to sink lower into the sky. "The sunsets are really beautiful from here."
"It's the second most beautiful thing I've seen around here." Kevin said.
"Really?"
"You're the most amazing girl I've ever met, Gwen." Kevin told her.
"Thanks." She got up. "I should get going."
"Me, too. My shift starts at eight."
"I'll stop by the garage tomorrow." Gwen said. She gave him a quick kiss before running off. He watched after her for a few seconds before leaving himself.
The next day, they met up at the garage again. "Hey, Gwen."
"Hi." She hugged him. "So, what's new?"
"I got a distress message from a Plumber." Kevin explained. "We may have trouble."
"Like what?" Gwen asked.
"Like that!" Kevin pointed. Gwen turned and saw that there was a monster nearby. They both got ready to fight it.
