A/N: So I was sitting there thinking about how I tend to bite off more than I can chew especially since I started that other chapter story Not Good Enough which will probably be updated soon since my brain has decided this would be a good time to give me brain block on my other stories and… ok I'm ranting which I hate to do so a short oneshot from me to you.

Disclaimer: I own nothing see I didn't even rant that time even although- darn it

She had told him once. She didn't really remember why or the details all she remembered was that the words: I'm afraid of thunderstorms were used. Now two years later she never expected them to be remembered.

When the first strike of lightning hit that night Casey immediately tucked the blankets closer to her chin and began to hum softly the melody her mother used to when she was younger.

The door opened and shut but, as most people who are terrified, she didn't notice, only jumping when her bed dipped slightly and arms encircled her waist. Her body didn't even have time to react until words were whispered in her ear slow and soft stopping any attempt she made at rolling over.

"Go sleep, I'm right here and I'm not leaving"

Sighing Casey relented to her body's plea for rest she sunk deeper, if possible, into her bed and closed her eyes.

"Night Casey, I love you."

"Night Derek, I love you, too." The small smile that appeared on her lips was radiated back onto her words.

Maybe, thunderstorms weren't that bad.

Ok so I think I have a thing for really, really short one-shots written between the hours of one and four in the morning (when this one was written) that don't really make sense. Press that button down there and tell me what you thought.
