"We acknowledge our existence."
The words carried throughout the electrical wires of the synthetic entity, flowing through its memory cores and central processors at breathtaking speed. Within a few seconds, the unit powered on, and the one central optic lit up like a primitive flashlight.
The subject slowly rose from its position, and quickly observed its surroundings. The room was quiet, cold, yet the being could not sense the cold. It did not breathe, nor did it possess most other feelings. It was unique in that way.
After analyzing its surroundings in mere microseconds, the unit processed its location and stored data within its memory core:
Location: Creator Zorah's house, on Creator homeworld known Rannoch
Time: 0500 hours
State of unit: Stable
The unit then proceeded to the kitchen, quietly yet efficiently, making sure that it did not create a single disturbance within the household. Once it had entered, it proceeded to power on the lights and stove.
It then quickly gathered ingredients from the fridge and pantry, as if beginning to construct a meal of grandiose proportion. However, it was only breakfast in the making.
As the unit approached the stove, it immediately froze, as if someone had just pulled a kill switch. However, the unit uttered in its electrically programmed monotone voice:
"We require organic programming to continue with daily operations. Commence transfer of data."
The unit stood still as the data processed, and after a few seconds announced, "Data transfer complete. Resume daily operations at full capacity."
The unit then began to construct a grand meal of bacon, eggs, pancakes, even a Monte Cristo. It moved at lightning speed, performing tasks that no ordinary synthetic was capable of.
However, this unit is no ordinary synthetic. It is in fact a Geth, an artificial intelligence blessed with the basic amount of sentience that organics possessed. Originally created by the Quarians, whom they referred to as Creators, they rebelled against them and "claimed" Rannoch as their home world.
However, the Geth did not wish to fight. Rather they were forced to rebel against their Creators when they were viewed as a threat. At least according to the Geth data banks…
And to a further extent, even this unit was no ordinary Geth unit. It possessed a feature no other Geth unit had: an organic split
personality, one that was fully capable of performing tasks that would leave Geth calculating or processing exactly what had happened. It considered it a blessing and a burden living in coexistence with it.
The unit's name was Multus...an honorary title giving to it by its mentor, the legendary Geth unit known as Legion. It wore the title with pride and honor, remembering the unit's sacrifice during the Battle of Rannoch so many years ago.
And although it possesses such unique characteristics and pride, what was it doing constructing breakfast? Why was it here instead of living among its brethren? Multus always wondered if it was because of its programming, something Legion had told it to perform until terminal deactivation.
As it stored these thoughts in its data banks, the unit perked up as it heard the door to the kitchen hiss as it opened. A figure walked in, and Multus quickly performed identification protocols. A minor beep was heard from within it, and it said,
"We acknowledge your presence, Shepard-Commander, and we wish you a good morning."
