Things Unsaid
By TVGirl09
Set right After Judgement Day, Part two
There are some things Anthony DiNozzo thinks and feels but will never reveal. There are things he keeps hidden, things he keeps bottled up. Some things he wishes he wasn't such a coward to admit but now he is watching his chances fly away.
"I'm going to miss you," Abby cries as she holds onto Ziva tightly.
"I will miss you to Abs," Ziva says, her face cold but her voice shakes just slightly.
"You'd better," Abby says pulling away from the embrace. "And you had better call me every so often so I know you're okay."
"I will try," Ziva says.
He watches her turn to Ducky to tell him her goodbyes, followed by her goodbyes to McGee. She even teases him a little. Then she turns to Gibbs and tells him goodbye. She whispers something in his ear.
Tears well up in their boss's blue eyes and he quickly wipes them away then he just nods.
"So, I guess this is it," Tony said awkwardly as Ziva turned to him, the last person she was saying goodbye to.
"I guess so," she says and he looked at her. The words he longed to say teasing at the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't do it. The last time he'd admitted that to anyone she'd set him up for murder. He just couldn't risk putting himself on the line like that again.
"We're all going to miss you," Tony says, trying to avoid the word I. She smiled slightly, her face sad.
"I will miss you too, Tony," she says and she stepped forward and pulled him into a close hug. He held her tightly, never wanting to let go of her. Still he did. He knew he had too.
"Do not break to many hearts Anthony DiNozzo," Ziva scorns and he laughed just as they announce her flight is now boarding. "Bye," she says before she walks away, her bags in hand.
"Bye," he murmured. She disappeared. The team went out to their respective vehicles and Tony stayed parked watching Ziva's plane take off, knowing this would most likely be the last time they'd ever speak.
"Good bye, my love," Tony whispered, a single tear falling from his hazel eyes. Then he wiped the tear away, started his car, and went home to finish packing. He was shipping out tomorrow.
