"State your name soldier." Marcus said roughly to me. I hadn't seen him in years, and his face was in harder shape than I'd remembered.
"Henry Gale." I said, trying to make my voice sound as manly as possible. If Marcus ever found out that it was me, his sister, he'd kill me. I'd managed to get the paperwork filled out well enough and be convincing enough that no one had questioned me so far.
"Alright, we're going to have to take you and Carmine here through some basic training. Don't fall behind." Marcus was referring to himself and Dominic.
Oh Dominic. It had been so long since I'd seen him. Ever since he and Marcus became friends I'd thought Dom was a cutie pie, but he belonged to Maria and I respected that. I followed behind my brother's large frame. My lancer was in my hand, I was waiting for anything to happen. Too long I'd stood by and waited to hear from Marcus, I was glad to see he was alive. Now it was time to get revenge for our family.
He and Dom began Carmine and myself out with some very basic things, like the best way to crouch and certain ways that make it easier to reload. He really had been out here for way too long. I was here to bring him home, but it was going to take some time. I needed to be patient, I didn't want him to get mad due to me being here.
"Holy shit what was that?" Carmine yelled, pointing his gun toward the higher stories of a building. We all reacted instantly, holding out guns in the same direction. "It looked like a monkey-dog thing."
Marcus lowered his gun and gave Carmine an irritated look. "Wretches. Just keep your lancer at the ready and make sure you use your chainsaw. They're not worth wasting the ammo."
I was ready to rev the chainsaw at any given moment. This was war, I needed to buck up and make sure I wasn't acting like a girl. We continued on walking around the block so we could learn how to become good assets to the Delta Squad. Then control buzzed in on our earpieces.
"Delta, we need your assistance over at the hospital. The Locusts have completely taken over the street!" A voice I recognized as Anya's said.
"We'll be there in a sec. Delta out." Marcus began to run ahead.
"Come on." Dom yelled; we followed quickly behind. Finally I was going to get to kill some of these bastards.
We followed them into the hospital where we were instantly under fire. I had a feeling in my gut that this was going to be tough, but I was willing to do it, to die beside my brother.
