A young girl sat on a hill, smiling at the boy
who was lying beside her. "Shin-chan, what do you think the
sky is made of?"
The boy sat up, blinking. "The
sky?"
"Yeah. What's it made of?"
He
laughed a little. "Air!"
She frowned, unsatisfied.
"But then why's it blue?"
Shin sighed. "I
don't know."
She thought for a moment, quiet. "Hey,
Shin-chan...why're you always acting funny?"
"Funny?
What do you mean?"
"Well..." The girl picked a
daisy and studied it, trying to word this according to her
feelings. "I don't know...everybody says you act funny
around me. You act different around all the other kids. One of
them said you liked me or something."
He blushed,
crossing his arms over his chest. "I..I do not!!"
She
smiled happily, plucking the petals from her daisy - one by one -
and letting them flutter to the ground. "He loves me, he
loves me not. He loves me, he loves me not. He loves--"
He
grabbed the flower, almost tearing it from her grasp and dropping
it into the grass.
She laughed. "You can calm down,
Shin-chan! I never said you DID love me, after all."
He
looked down quietly, sitting back down on the grass and staring
at his feet, thoroughly flushed.
The girl peeked over at him
quietly, taking in the possible meanings of his expression, and
she smiled. Leaning in, she placed a childishly innocent kiss
upon his lips.
The boy's eyes widened, and his cheeks flared
scarlet as he kissed her. A million thoughts passed through his
mind. All of them faded into a blur.
When she finally pulled
back, she was smiling. Taking his hand and helping the boy to his
feet, she looked out to the field in wonder. Her face lit up, as
if the idea that she had had had been brilliant. "Let's play
tag!"
Running off, she left the young boy standing in a
daze, a light blush still gracing his cheeks. He smiled and
chased after her as her cries of laughter filled the air.
just a cute little thing that i was inspired to write, between my character and her best friend from childhood...i worded some of it strangely, and it was written at about two or three in the morning, so don't expect it to be perfect. i'm not quite sure where this idea came from...i guess i needed to write something childlike and innocent for once...XP it was just too cute to resist
