Chapter 1- Danger
"WHAT?" I screamed at the phone, "WHY?" I waited for a reply but the line went dead "No Jacob!" I slumped into a heap on the floor; the love of my life had just deserted me for a beach blonde surfer chick he met over spring break. I couldn't see my familiar room before my tearing eyes I had to do something to stop this pain ripping through my chest. I had to get away from all this, this horrible feeling and I could only think of one way to do this.
I ran out side through the chilly air towards my car, stumbling along in the dark with my eyes still blurred from my tears. I got in to my car- a new Ford Taurus- a started the car. I started to drive in silence so I turned on the music.
"You're
not in this alone Let me break this awkward silence Let me go, go on
record Be the first to say I'm sorry Hear me out, And if you take me
down Or would you lay me out And if the world needs something better
Let's give them one more reason now, now, now We walk in single file
We light our rails and punch our time Ride escalators colder than a
cell This broken city sky like butane on my skin stolen from my eyes
Hello Angel, tell me where are you Tell me where we go from here This
broken city sky like butane on my skin stolen from my eyes Hello
Angel, tell me where are you Tell me where we go from here
Tell
me we go from... And in this moment we can't close the lids on
burning eyes Our memories blanket us with friends we know like
fallout vapors Steel corpses stretch out towards an ending sun,
scorched and black It reaches in and tears your flesh apart As ice
cold hands rip into your heart That's if you've still got one that's
left inside that cave you call a chest And after seeing what we saw,
can we still reclaim our innocence And if the world needs something
better, let's give them one more reason now This broken city sky like
butane on my skin stolen from my eyes Hello Angel, tell me where are
you Tell me where we go from here This broken city sky like butane on
my skin stolen from my eyes Hello Angel, tell me where are you Tell
me where we go from here Tell me we go from here"
The song did nothing but make me drive faster to my destination. I went down to the cliffs by the sea where my friends and I had spent years talking about cliff diving but never really serious because the drop was something that could kill you.
And that was exactly what I wanted.
