She was forever being asked why she hadn't told him yet.
Of course she gave the usual excuses, saying she wasn't sure if he loved her, wasn't sure what would happen. But it was all a lie. They had no idea, the real reason why she hadn't said I love you. They had no idea of how she was torn, the fight between her angel and demon wearing her out. They had no idea- except for one.
He'd always been perceptive to her troubles, ever since rescuing them from the School. Of course he would be, since he was her dad. At first, he had truly thought that she hadn't known that her dark angel loved her. But, as he watched her, he realized that that was a lie. She knew, oh she definitely knew.
Her dark angel had been the one to initiate most of the moves forward, and that made her realize that he truly loved her. That he would gladly die for her. She was scared at first, afraid what would happen if they moved forward. After time, this fear dissolved and she was able to think deeper into their relationship.
She realized that most people thought that she loved him- after all, if you didn't like him, why would you stare at him longingly? But it was a lie, as usual. Her little mind reader found that out one day. The little mind reader had tried to help her get past the barrier that separated her from her dark angel, but it didn't work. After a while, the mind reader had to give up. She made the mind reader forget, guiltily thinking that it would be better if the mind reader didn't know. And still, her angel and demon warred on.
Her dark angel was forever kept in suspense, waiting for the most precious three words in the world. Her family was waiting too, waiting for her to admit so that the tension would be gone and life could be happier. They all thought that she was afraid of the commitment, or afraid of what would happen if their love wasn't true. The biggest lie of all.
If only they knew. If only they knew what had really happened at the school, before her dark angel came into the picture. If they knew, they would understand why she didn't say those words, why she most likely never would.
They would understand that she had never let them in, had never opened the barrier, had never truly loved them. They would know that her angel had been beaten down in the dust by her demon. They would know that she was truly all alone in the world.
They would know that it was all a lie.
AN- I know I should be updating my other stories, but this wouldn't leave me alone. Hooray for my first one-shot ever!
