Chapter 1-
"Percy, Percy!" I woke up this morning with a dream of the sounds of woman's voices calling me. It was watery-sounding, almost as if they were underwater. "Percy, PERRRCY!"
I packed my backpack and prayed for the best. See, I have gotten kicked out of every school I have gone to."Percy? Are you OK?" A wonderful damp smell wafted out of the hallway. It was my mom. I hid behind the door when she opened it. "Percy? PERCY?" her voice got louder as she yelled frantically.
"Mom, cool it! It's fine." I said anxiously. "Oh, OK." she sounded relieved. "I made pancakes!" she said enthusiastically. "Yay." I said unenthusiastically. "What's wrong sweetie?" Mom asked sympathetically. "Mom, last night you said something about Camp... Half-Blood?" I said, bringing up last night's dinner conversation. All the colour from Mom's face slowly dripped away, leaving me staring at my mother as pale as a bank of snow.
"C-Camp Half-Blood? I don't know what yo-you're talking abou-bout." she said sadly, maybe with a touch of fear. "Anyways, we are going to the beach." "Really?" I asked. My mom nodded. "Yes!" I fist-pumped the air. "But you have to eat your pancakes first." Then she busted out in laughter like a lunatic.
"Gabe! We're going out, OK?" my mom shouted. "Alright, Sally!" my step dad Smelly Gabe (He reeks of beer and whiskey) called. "Just bring me back some dough." he snarled. I don't know why my mom married him. I mean, he's a jerk. "OK, Gabe." my mom whimpered. I grabbed my mom's hand and pulled her out the door.
We got into Mom's Toyota and drove to the beach off Long Island. Little did we know how horrible it would turn out...
