Young Justice: Masks
Foreword:
I have sort of lost interest in the Young Justice Infiltration series, and don't think I will come back to it any time soon. For those who enjoyed it, I'm sorry and I hope my new story will bring the same and even better thrill and action and drama you liked back in Infiltration. So anyway I will try to update this series as much as I can and maybe after the series finds a close will possibly pick up Infiltration once again. So without adieu "Masks."
Chapter One: A Kid of My Own
Red lights flashed throughout the entire facility. Loud buzzers and horns screeched throughout the small hallways lined with metal plates even Superman would take a while to breach. Armed men with assault rifles and long electrified prods, sprinted down the red halls and up the endless flights of stairs. A voice appeared through the intercom and screeched on and on, while stopping briefly before continuing his message.
"ALERT, ALERT! WE HAVE A CODE RED BREACH IN META-WING, SUB LEVEL 60! ALL HANDS REPORT AND FIND THE ESCAPEE! THIS IS NOT A SIMULATION! I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A SIMULATION!"
Commotion filled the subterranean complex. Soldiers and scientists all crashed into one another while pushing through the tightly packed hallways.
Amongst all the chaos, a young boy in a white jumpsuit found it easy to traverse through the small area, he crawled through the small air vents, and climbed up the stairways, which soon were empty after all the complex's asset's pushed downward. The young boy who was about the age of seven, and was wiser and brighter than most, soon found himself near the top level of the underground base he found himself incarcerated in many moments ago. His breathing grew heavy after traveling so far, and up many flights of endless stairs, but he kept pushing until he met the final door of the staircase. A large yellow "one" was painted on it, and underneath the large number was smaller text which read:
"Entrance and Ground Level-1"
The boy smiled to himself and almost felt like cheering at the sight of this door, but he wasn't out yet. And so he pushed open the door and light poured into the dimly lit staircase. He was blinded temporarily, but his eyes managed to adjust quickly, but instead of seeing freedom and sovereignty, he was met by a large man clad in black and orange armor. He looked down at the boy and laughed to himself.
"This is what Luthor sent me to take care of? Im honestly quite offended. But im being paid lots of money. Tell me young child, can you count to 5 million? Because that is how much money I am being paid to deal with a brat like you. Five million dollars. Count with me will you; One...Two..."
As the tall man reached three, the young boy darted for a nearby trash can and threw it at the man in black. The large man however dodged it and grew angry by the boys audacity and actions. The tall man grabbed the boy by the neck and slammed him down to the ground. Slowly choking him and pressing his face closer to his.
"You have guts, but no skill what so ever. If you were trained maybe you would have lasted longer...Hmm sidekicks seem to be whats in these days. You seem like a smart and able young man. It would have to be a secret..."
The young boy started to lose consciousness because of lack of oxygen. He slowly faded away, as the large man picked him up and carried him outside. He was tossed into a trunk and was locked inside. The last things he saw before he went dark were the words on a sign outside the complex. They were hardly visible but they seemingly spelt out a word.
