A Breath of Life
I looked at the rising moon, it's grandeur lit up the night's canvas with a milky glow. It seemed at that point that nothing mattered, that all the pain and suffering I had endured washed away with the silent night. It was so bright, the moon. Almost as if it was calling me, the light at the end of the long and dark tunnel. Ready to lead me out of the darkness. At that point I felt as if the shell I wore around myself slipped off, like a cloak fluttering to the ground. I smiled, truly smiled. It was not one of those half-hearted or painful smiles, it was one of peace and calm. It seemed as if I could just lay back and pretend nothing happened, like I had no care in the world. I knew I was wrong but I just couldn't help myself maybe demons also needed a break. The wind around me began to pick up and ruffle the leaves of the trees around me. The sound of gentle sweeping adding to the musical call of the night. The gentle winds caressed and teased my hair, it swept through and around me, inviting me to play. I chuckled, no matter what happened it always seemed that nature was the only thing that wanted to play with me. I stood up, blood rushing to my legs, giving me a tingling feeling. The wind began to sway me in different directions as I let it control my body. My arms began to move, the wind lifted them making them move in the form of shapes. Unrecognisable only to the wind and I it began to sing a song. I closed my eyes and listened closely. Soon my legs began to move to the rhythmic beats of the wind, quick and sharp movements stemmed from nowhere. I felt nothing except the spirit of the wind calling me lifting my soul up towards it and pulling it away from my body. The movements I made, made me feel smooth and gentle as well as sharp and quick. My arms whirlled around me as my feet made lept up into the air, almost as if I was trying to walk on it. I was in a euphoria, a state of bliss where nothing could touch me. It was only the wind and I as we danced our ethereal dance. As the climax of the dance approached the wind blew and circled around me, whistling in conjunction to the harmony of the swaying trees and creaking branches. I breathed in the unruly air. It filled my lungs and my body spreading energy, making ready for its finale. I opened my eyes and was instanty met with the sight of the moon at its zenith. Is opalescent face spread across the sky as it watched the show below, illuminating the dancer and it's artist. I crouched down and bowed, collecting the energy into my legs readying myself for the final act. The wind almost held still, it too preparing for the last symphony it was to play. A signal was received as the wind and I lifted each other and complemented ourselves. Springing into the air my arm was raised high into the air piercing its transparent shield as my body swirled below. I could feel the resistance the air gave, trying to keep me toward the ground. The wind blew from underneath me and lifted me further up into the air. I twisted forward so that my arm was in front of me as I plummeted toward the hard earth the wind rushing past my face. Muscles tensed as I straightened out my body in a rigorous position. I flipped once more before landing and crouched, my legs absorbing the impact and saving me from my imminent death. Crouched, I listened as the spirit of the wind died down after play its most beautiful symphony. The last slivers of wind raced through the trees. Rustling the night time instruments of the forest. As the wind bid it's farewell, I lay down onto my back content with my dance. Truly it was a breath of life.
