A series of coughs erupted from his lips, eyes closed, short blonde hair spewed around his face in soft locks.

"You allright, Alfons?" A nod, a smile, golden and turquoise colliding.

The snow fell around them heavily, coating the cobblestone streets of Munich with a white blanket. People rushed around them, seeking shops, finding loved ones, huddling together, celebrating. The concept was new to Edward: Christmas.

Today was Christmas Eve.

Alphonse and Edward never celebrated it; a timid and awkward 'Merry Christmas' from his younger brother was all he ever got, followed by some cynical comment about holidays from remaining Elric.. a sigh, and the two fell into step once again.

He remembered, though.

With a gloomy stare at the residents of Central, boxes in hand, snow falling onto his blonde hair tied in that same tightly wound braid..

He would remember what Christmas used to be like.

"Mom, mom!"

Even though it wasn't snowing, the crisp chill of morning air seemed to jump at his face when he opened the screen door.

She followed closely behind, seeing as if she didn't the hand gripping tightly onto her skirt would force her to fall. "What is it, Edward?" She asked this sweetly, like a mother. She knew how he would respond: he responded this way every year, almost like tradition. Well, it was tradition, she wouldn't lie.

"It's Christmas!" He yelled, pointing out at the clear winter day.

She laughed. "Oh, Edward, it is." Alphonse would then come out of his bedroom groggily, rubbing his eyes but smiling when Edward screamed those words again.

"Let's go play in the snow!"

"Just be back by dinner, boys. We're going to the Rockbell's house for Christmas dinner!"

Trees and presents, smiling faces. ('And the feast that Granny Pinako made every year wasn't a con, either,' He thought with a smile.)

He could still remember...

"Dammit." He said this only slightly under his breath, gritted teeth, hands jammed into his coat pockets.

"What is it, Edward?" No.. he wasn't Ed's mother, or his brother, but he was pretty damn close.

The Elric lazily looked up to the sky, a smile on his face, as if reminiscing.

"... It's Christmas."

Zee Endd.
