The small hanyou boy was chasing an equally small rabbit through a thick course of new spring growth. The hanyou moved sluggish, like this might be his first kill. He made to much noise and was totally unaware of his surroundings.
He would be easy prey.
Stark white hair against crimson stood out amongst the fresh green of the grass the hanyou now sat it pouting. The rabbit had made its escape, but the hanyou would not be so lucky.
The snake demon watching the boy moved forward slowly. Unlike the child, he had enough experience to know how to sneak up on his prey. He was staving and found himself very lucky to have stumbled upon such an easy target. Though it was only a hanyou, he would be satisfied for the time being.
The hanyou still sat, arms folded with a scornful look across his face. How he could not sense his approaching doom astounded the snake. The snake had learned to always take in his surroundings; from the moment of his birth he was aware. This pathetic half-breed must be defective.
Creeping steadily closer, the snake began to drool. The snake could smell the hanyou's blood coursing through its veins. The child was still lounging on the grass, looking off into the distance. His heart beat stayed steady. He had no idea death was coming fast.
The snake curled up on himself, his muscles tightened ready to spring forth.
Just as the snake was about to spring forward and snatch up his meal, the little hanyou turned his head toward his stalker.
"I wouldn't do that." The small boy said hauntingly.
The snake wasn't sure how to proceed. How dare the hanyou not fear him!
"How dare you!" The snake hissed out menacingly. To heighten his threat, the snake rose up and towered over the small boy.
The snake waited for an increased heart beat, a scream, or even a flinch.
All he got was a narrowing of the boy's eyes.
"Are you stupid or somethin'?" He boy asked.
The snake found he could handle no more. The insolent child, alone with no protection or apparent common sense would not insult his attacker and live.
The snake once more tensed to strike, the hanyou's eyes were still narrowed though his right ear did twitch slightly. The snake found he was slightly prideful of that small show of emotion. He was finally able to strike the fear of death in the child.
Then, the damn hanyou smirked.
The snake lunged forward.
It started off as a remote tingle.
It ended in a full on blast that sent the snake reeling.
As the snake hit the ground, on the other side of the small clearing, he noticed the arrow protruding from his chest. Then, the priestess emerged from the forest lowering her bow.
Her hair flew wildly around her and her anger was apparent across her face. She watched the snake burning. The purification was fast and painful. The snake shrieked and jerked around. Having no arms make removal of the arrow impossible. The woman stood by the small hanyou and looked down at him.
Her eyes softened.
The snake spent his last moments of life feeling his body burn and wilt away from purification. He finally gave in and slumped against the warm ground and watched the priestess pick the small red-clad boy up. She turned and walked away into the lush green of the forest.
The small hanyou's mocking blue eyes watched as the snake melt away.
Complete crap. Random inspiration. I had to get something down on paper.
