Summary-When an exhibit from Egypt arrives in San Fransisco, things turn up a notch as Scarab brings the vengeful mummy back to life and she's determined to finish what she started...

Author's Note – I fixed it up a bit here and made a few changes. (I found a few things weren't working with the new story I'm writing. Sorry if I changed anything anyone particularly liked.)

Unknown Memories

Nefertina and Presley were checking out an exhibit that recently arrived from Egypt. They walked into the room and gazed around at the artefacts that were displayed around the room.

"Cool exhibit. There's even a sarcophagus. I wonder who it is?" asked Nefertina.

"You read Egyptian better than what I do, could you tell me what it says?" Presley asked the female mummy.

Nefertina stared at the glyphs sitting upon the sarcophagus.

"It says to beware of the power of this mummy. It looks like it might have been a servant of some sort to someone in the palace. It's probably a female but it doesn't reveal any names. It looks like she might have lived around the time of Rapses," Nefertina told him.

"So you guys could have known them?" Presley wanted to make sure.

"We could have, I don't know. Not without bringing her back to life or there are any other indications to her identity," replied Nefertina.

"Oh you should be aware and you do know the mummy, you just don't know it yet," snarled a voice behind them.

"Scarab!" cried Presley.

"With the strength of RA!" cried Nefertina.

Instantly, she had her cat armor on her body and she pulled out her whip. She turned to face her old nemesis, standing in between him and the prince.

"You won't get the prince the time Scarab!" she yelled.

"Ironically, I'm not after the boy this time, I'm after the mummy and the sarcophagus," he told the two. "You shabti, restrain them while the others grab the sarcophagus."

Some shabti held onto Presley and Nefertina while others grabbed the mummy case. Just as they went out the door, Nefertina managed to break the shabti holding the prince and her before she ran after the clay statues.

"No!" she screamed. "You won't get away with this!"

She stopped to catch her breath while the young prince hurried up to her side and watched as Scarab disappeared off into the distance.

"We'll find out soon what he has planned for that mummy," Presley said. "And something tells me it's not good."

Back at his home, Scarab had his shabti place the mummy on her feet. Scarab stared at the mummified body, a smile crossing his face. He had hoped that her body would be found someday and luckily, he was not disappointed. Reaching inside his clothes, he pulled out a small cassette tape - the same one he had used to summon Kimas' spirit from beyond and pressed the play button.

"We call you from beyond the Western Gate!"

In a flash of blazing light, a ball of light emerged from outside and into the sleeping body, its power coursing through muscles and limbs. The mummy stretched her unused arms before truly taking in where she was. With her mind clearing, she quickly glanced around the room. Her stare returned to Scarab hoping for an explanation to her current whereabouts.

"Lutina, welcome back to the land of the living. It is good to see you again after all this time," Heka told Lutina.

"What is this century?" Lutina asked him. "Where am I?

"It is the twentieth century and you are in a place called San Francisco. You were sleeping for thirty-five centuries. I'd like you to help me capture Rapses and destroy his four wretched mummy guardians. ," explained Scarab.

"Rapses is here in this time along with his guardians? That brat will pay for monopolizing my brother's time! Then I shall get my revenge against my brother for all the torment that he's caused me!" she snarled. "

"No, I didn't. The pharaoh entombed me after I killed the boy when he was twelve," cursed Scarab. "All those wasted years."

"Just give me time. I will help you destroy the guardians and capture that accursed brat," she offered.

"Okay, but I'd better see results soon. For the time being, I would like to help you to acclimate to this century and its technologies. Such things will be greatly beneficial," warned Scarab.

"You'll have your results," Lutina told him. "Don't you worry."

She carefully stepped towards the door, with Scarab walking by her side. Lutina could see the grin crossing his face as they walked to the balcony door.

"What's going through your mind?" she wondered.

"Just thinking about old times. About how much time we ended up spending together and I seem to recall that fiery attitude of yours from the day we first met at the prince's 5th birthday party. You were pretty determined to try and kill both him and Amenhotep that day," Scarab

As she walked to the side of the balcony, she was remembering. Remembering that one day from all those years ago that ultimately sealed her fate.

Ancient Egypt, 1532 B.C.

Lutina was making supper for her mother, brother and herself. She had just finished making it when her mother walked into the room. She had a sad look on her face and Lutina somehow knew what the older woman was going to say.

"Lutina, your brother won't be coming for dinner. I was just talking to him and he said he's going to the party that the pharaoh is having today for the prince's birthday," she sadly explained to her daughter.

"That accursed brother of mine! He's always acted as if I never existed!" screamed Lutina.

Her long black hair flowed silently behind her as she went to her room She reached under her bed pillow and pulled out a quiver of arrows and a bow. She hadn't told her mother that she been secretly been taken archery lessons from a man by the name of Ja-kal before he had become one of the prince's guardians. In fact, she recalled the first time she had met with the man. He had asked why a woman should learn archery for it was not their place to do so - a view shared by her mother - but she managed to persuade him to give her a few lessons in order to defend herself. She put the bow and arrows underneath the table when she sneaked back out. Lutina quickly ate her supper and left in a hurry, her mother never noticing anything different. She made her way to the palace and she reached the location just as the feasting began. She carefully made her way to the top of the wall and glanced around the people milling about the court before her stare finally landed on her brother.

"Welcome friends to the party of celebration of defeating our enemies and of my son. Now let the feasting begin," the pharaoh told the crowd.

The feasting started but before it could go on any further, flaming arrows began pouring down onto the ground. Everybody started to dodge out of the way when a figure jumped down into the midst of the commotion. Glancing around, Lutina soon spotted the young Rapses over by a table, unable to get away. Lutina picked him up by his collar and he began to cry.

"You will die Rapses. My life has been a trail of ignorance. You just pushed the limit of my patience. You and your father both have. I will..." she started.

Before she could finish, a couple guards grabbed her from behind, causing her to drop the young prince.

"The prince!" cried Armon, rushing to catch Rapses.

Lutina tried to blast the guards away with magic but couldn't because of the awkward position her arms were being held in.

"You will be in the dungeon until your death sentence. Rath, do you know this young woman? She seems to quite a bit about magic," the pharaoh wanted to know.

Rath walked up to the group and gave the woman being restrained by the guards a look over before he finally shook his head.

"No, I don't. I have never seen this one before in my life. Wherever she learned her magic, it was not from me," said Rath.

"Take her to the dungeon then!" the pharaoh ordered.

Helplessly, Lutina was dragged there, struggling on the way. Scarab watched as the woman was being led to the dungeon, his mind thinking about the possibilities to what he could do with this woman.

Later on that day, he travelled into the bowels of the dungeon where he greeted the new prisoner. Lutina pretended to not notice her visitor standing at the bars of her cell. They remained silent where they were for several minutes before Scarab decided to speak first.

"Would you like to live? Live so you can eventually fulfill your thirst for vengeance?"

Lutina turned her head around, curious as to what he had to offer. She climbed to her feet and stepped over to the bars separating the two of them. She gave him a one over, cocking her head to one side.

"What are you proposing?" she finally asked.

"I can make certain you live but I'm afraid there will have to be sacrifices to be made. For starters, you will have to wait to finish what you started today. We should also not speak of the events from today until I can deem it a good time for us to discuss it but I shall help you in this endeavour to kill whomever you seek," Scarab explained.

"And what if you manage to convince the pharaoh that I am safe? What then? He will not let me walk free and I will not be able to get closer to my brother," she posed.

"That is one of the other things you will have to sacrifice. In order to successfully pull off this charade, you will have to become my servant, in order to persuade the pharaoh that I have successfully subdued your powers. At some point, I will make certain you have a chance to kill your brother. Especially when you are by my side as queen," he replied. "Do we have a deal?"

Lutina placed a hand up to her chin, considering the offer for just a moment before nodding her head. With little else to go on, she knew that this offer was her only chance to hopefully get revenge.

Modern day San Francisco

Lutina climbed down the long side of the building from the balcony. She sneaked through the city, tracking Presley's amulet and she reached his house just as the mummies dropped off him off after the fiasco at the museum.

"The mummy Scarab stole could have been brought back to life by now. They're probably up to no good so you have to be careful," Rath told the young prince.

"Gotcha but how can that mummy hurt me if you don't know who or where she is?" Presley wanted to know.

"We'll deal with that when the problem arises. Until then, it would be good if you stayed safe," Ja-kal told him as Khati jumped out of the Hot RA and ran away.

"Khati, come back. Don't run away," called Armon.

"Don't worry Armon, she'll come back. She usually does," reassured Presley.

What he didn't know was that Khati headed straight for where Lutina was hiding behind the house. She grinned as she scooped up the cat in her arms and held onto the struggling feline.

"Hello kitty, kitty. That was a bad move on your part. Now you and I will become one. At least until we get to your home," Lutina told the cat.

Staring into the cat's eyes, she felt herself merge with the cat. After it was finished, Khati shook off the strange feeling before she made her way back to the Hot RA, where the mummies were patiently waiting.

"Finally Khati, you're here. Let's head back," Ja-kal said impatiently.

The engine roared to life before speeding down the street. When they reached the Sphinx, the five walked inside. Khati left the company of the others into a small room nearby in order to let her stowaway out. Just as the mummy climbed to her feet, Khati gave a loud screech. It was loud enough for the others to hear and Nefertina went running in.

"Khati, what's wrong?" asked a frightened Nefertina.

"Nothing's wrong with her but with you, there is," called a voice from above.

Lutina quickly dropped to the ground and covered Nefertina's mouth. Lutina coldly looked at Nefertina for a minute then suddenly transformed to look exactly like her. The fake Nefertina tied up the real thing and walked out to greet the others.

"Nefertina, what's wrong with our sacred cat?" Rath asked her.

"She was, uh, surprised of a big rat that snuck in through a hole in the wall," she answered.

"Okay, now let's get a plan. Scarab stole that mummy for a reason. We have to find out what!" Ja-kal told the group.

"Maybe he wants to bring her back to life and let him run havoc on the city," suggested Nefertina, laughing.

"Get serious Nefertina. This is important," Rath told her.

"Listen, I'm certain that whoever this is, won't be coming after us for a while yet. We've got lots of time to figure things out," she told them. "In the meantime, I'm going to take a ride on the Jet-Cycle."

She made her way out, taking the real Nefertina and Khati to the rendezvous point Scarab told her about earlier. Lutina couldn't help but smile as things were finally going her way and her thoughts went back to her revenge.

'Finally, you will be mine after all this time.'

"Presley, good thing you're home. There's been a robbery down at the museum. I have to go now. Sorry I can't stay for supper," she explained.

"Too bad. What was taken?" Presley asked.

"The new exhibit's mummy and the sarcophagus. I can't believe the luck we've had with all these mummies being stolen from our museum. First it was the Rapses exhibit, then the other one not too long back and now this one," she explained.

Presley bit his lip as he watched her leave, fully knowing that he couldn't tell her anything about what he already knew. Once she left the house, he hurried down to the Sphinx hoping that the mummies were still there. There, he found Rath, Ja-kal and Armon.

"Guys, we have to find the mummy Scarab stole," Presley started.

"Hold on. What do you mean?" asked Armon.

"She could be anywhere and its best to stop her now," cried Presley as he glanced around the room. "Where's Nefertina?"

"Now that you mention it, she left for a ride earlier and never came back. In fact, I'm getting worried," answered Rath.

"Let's go find her," Ja-kal ordered.

"With the strength of RA!" the three cried.

Once everyone had their armour on, they quickly climbed into the Hot RA and immediately left the Sphinx. Inwardly, Rath was a little worried about this new mummy and he didn't know why. He turned to Armon, who appeared oblivious to everything except where they were going. Gulping, he returned back to the driving and hoped that his fears would soon be eased.

Scarab soon arrived at the rendezvous point with his shabti in hand. Seeing Nefertina and their sacred cat as prisoners was joy all in its own and he knew the others would soon follow - including their precious prince.

"You did well. You're bringing me the mummies. You shall be rewarded in due time for the good job you've done," complimented Scarab.

"Thank you Scarab. I haven't had a compliment from you in over thirty-five centuries. Part of me misses the good old days," she replied.

"What do you want with Khati and me? And who are you?" asked an angered Nefertina.

"You're bait for the prince and the others. One of them will be mine to play with and then Scarab will have the rest to destroy," replied Lutina. "As for me, I'm your worst nightmare."

Nefertina gasped. She carefully watched the new mummy as she stepped closer to Scarab

"Too bad for your friends are here. Just to make sure you don't blow my cover," said Lutina.

Lutina gagged Nefertina just before the three mummies came in with the prince The four saw their friends tied up in the corner and the mummies prepared themselves for a fight.

"Nefertina, we're coming," cried Presley.

"No, you won't," Scarab told them.

Scarab used his magic to tie up the prince and the mummies like Nefertina. Scarab laughed as he looked over the mummies, believing he finally had his victory

"What do you want with us? Whatever it is, do it now," Ja-kal told him bravely.

"You know I'm not after you. As you know, I'm after the prince but I know someone else who wants to get rid of one of you. Don't ask me who it is because I don't know. Circumstances prevented me from knowing," Scarab replied angrily.

"Who is this someone?" Armon wanted to know.

"It's an old friend of mine. Mummies, meet Lutina. You might remember her from the time she attacked the prince's birthday celebration many years ago," introduced Scarab.

The mummies gasped. They remembered the incident and knew it sent the palace into a flurry for days afterwards. Ja-kal even recalled that Scarab took the attacker as his own personal servant, something he was quick to object to.

Lutina walked into their view. She had long grey hair, her red and black skirt .

"What do you want?" Rath wanted to know.

"You heard the man before: I want one of you," she replied.

Part of Rath could swear that he felt his removed heart pounding in his chest. He vividly recalled the attack on the palace all those millennium ago. He remembered looking the looking straight in the eye of this woman and said that he didn't know her. Now that she was reborn with the same intensity as all those years ago, he wondered what drove her to act the way she did.

"With the strength of RA!" screamed Lutina as she front flipped.

Now she had a helmet on her head, a chest plate, armor on her forearms and lower legs. Out of the back of the armor, came a long tail of a snake with spikes streaming down the length of it. Carefully, she fiddled around with several of the spikes. After a few tense moments, she smiled as she pulled one out and brought it about so everyone could see it.

"Let me see here, there should be poison in this one," she replied.

"Poison? That's dangerous to play with. Someone could really get hurt," complained Armon.

"All's fair in love and siblings Armadillo," she replied menacingly.

"You distract them while I get the prince. I'll destroy him again," Scarab said to her.

He walked towards the prince, a grin sitting upon his face.

"Now Prince Rapses. Now for my immortality, my everlasting life," drooled Scarab.

"Your immortality? Scarab, you kept telling me you wanted power, not immortality. This is not what I agreed to when I became your slave," Lutina screamed at him.

"Times have changed Lutina. Shortly after you died, I found the way for eternal life through the prince's soul. You should be happy. The prince will suffer for causing you the pain you've endured for so long," Scarab replied.

Her tail almost flicked with anger at Scarab, her eyes burning with anger for being lied to.

"I'll forget the differences with my brother just long enough to exterminate you first!" Lutina yelled at him.

"Your brother?" the mummies curiously asked.

Lutina quickly inhaled, mentally hitting herself for giving away information too soon.

"That is a story for later on. For now, ," she explained.

With a wave of her hand, she released the mummies, Presley and Khati free from their bonds. All clamoured to their feet and all prepared their weapons for a battle.

"You will die again from your ignorance. I should have never let you live," Scarab warned.

"No, you will die sorcerer," Ja-kal replied.

He swooped down and shot an arrow at him while Armon began to charge in his direction. Scarab dodged the attacks and caused Armon to ram into the engines and the arrow to go right through the decks of the boat.

"Oh no, the ship, it's going to go down," cried Scarab. "My plans are once again foiled because of you cursed mummies! You will pay for this Lutina!"

"Everybody, let's get out of here before it sinks," ordered Ja-kal.

Everyone scrambled to find a way out of the boat before Nefertina found a door leading outside. Glancing back, she immediately noticed that Rath and the newcomer were both missing. Ja-kal

"My prince, get going before it sinks completely. Don't worry; I'll be back as soon as possible. I have to go get Rath," Ja-kal told them.

"He'll get out, just come on," yelled Nefertina.

00000

Rath was blown back by the energy blast from the shabti's staff. He glanced around the

"Foul fiend, you will die for all the things you've done," threatened Rath.

"But not before we go into the Western Gate because that's where we're headed as we speak. This boat is slowly but surely moving forward towards it right now even though it's sinking," Scarab reminded.

"He's right. We have to go now," Lutina told Rath as she took out one of the spikes. "This one should cause amnesia."

"For how long?" asked Rath.

"He won't remember anything that happened in the last couple of hours. It should wear off in a few days. He will instantly fall asleep because of a harmless liquid in it," she explained

She lined it up and threw the spike at Scarab. It hit him right in the chest. It took a few moments for it to take effect but he dropped to the ground and began to snore. With that done, Rath and Lutina ran for the way out of the burning room. They were having a bit of trouble with all the smoke.

"Do you know where to go? I can't see," Rath told her.

"Yes, I do. Follow me," she commanded.

He followed her to an open doorway.

"You ready for this?" asked Rath.

"I...yes, I am," she replied.

They both jumped out before the craft slowly went through the Western Gate. The two hit the water and were swirled down. Lutina managed to make it up to the surface to find Rath floating nearby.

"Rath," she gasped.

00000

On shore, the others thought that he was gone. Nefertina and Ja-kal stared out over the water, watching the boat slowly disappear into the distance

"Rath, possibly gone through the Western Gate. No, it can't be happening," Nefertina cried.

"I thought you said he would he get out," Armon said to Nefertina.

"Both of you," Ja-kal said. "Stop your bickering and help me get them out of the water."

There by the waterline was Lutina and Rath. The four hurried down to help them as Lutina pulled Rath onto the shore. Gasping for air, she stared up at them with pleading eyes. Ja-kal returned her gaze as he helped her to her feet.

"Ja-kal, please forgive me for everything that I've done. I wish to help you if you give me a chance to do so," Lutina said.

Before Ja-kal could respond to her inquiry, Rath groggily stood up and shook his head, a bit uncertain of what was happening. Glancing between everyone who was present, his eyes finally landed on the newcomer standing beside his leader. Somehow, he managed to hear her plea for help and his heart went out to her.

"I'll be fine," he replied.

"I'm sorry, this is entirely my entire fault," Lutina replied. "I'll go and leave you alone now."

She got up to leave but Ja-kal stopped her by grabbing her arm. She turned around to face falcon-armoured mummy, who could only give her a smile.

"Please, come with us. We'll help you with your sarcophagus if you want to trust us," he told her.

He had a very surprised Lutina staring back him, in obvious disbelief over the offer. She finally nodded her head as she led them to where her sarcophagus was located.

00000

Later on, after everything was now situated, Lutina climbed out of her sarcophagus to be greeted by the four mummies. All of them had stern looks on their faces, though Ja-kal had more of a curious look on his face. He was the one who stepped forward.

"Lutina, we were talking during your rest and we discussed many things. Just remember that we took a risk bringing you to our home, considering you did try and kill one of us before helping us. Don't make us regret that decision," Ja-kal told her. "Then there's the other subject that came up. We're all curious to know one thing. Exactly who is your brother?"

She glanced up at them with a sad face. Fully knowing that this would change everything she knew she opened her mouth.

"It's Rath."

The End.

I know, I changed the ending. You can shoot me later. *ducks*
