Fortitude
They shall be our finest warriors,
But not for all to see.
Striking from the shadows will
Make us from war free.
...
From far and wide they will be brought,
In secret they'll be forged.
Something less and more than human,
That's what they'll move towards.
...
Machine and nerve will bind their souls,
Of iron shall be their will.
To the limit they shall be pushed,
Not once shall they be still.
...
In great armour they shall be clad,
While bearing firearms.
Acting as humanity's shield,
To our foes bringing harm.
...
They will not know disease's touch,
Of illness or of blight.
Standing firm against the dark,
Against the angry night.
...
Unflawed plans shall they employ,
That neither man nor code may best.
Uncounted challenges is what they'll face,
Overcoming every test.
...
They'll be our bulwark against the dark,
Defending all we hold dear.
For they shall be the Spartan IIIs
And they shall know no fear.
A/N
The fact that the poem is just a bit of fun notwithstanding, I admittedly started off the poem with the Spartan IIs in mind. Still, decided to go off on a bit of a tangent from the norm, hence the shift from Halsey's tin men to Ackerson's. Surprisingly easy to convert the likes of Reach to Onyx all things considered.
