Where could someone possibly obtain drugs in a small town like South Park?
No matter how illogical it seemed to me, the teenagers in town always seemed to acquire some sort of substance to get them nice and high.
My immediate group of friends always stayed pretty clear of that type of extra curricular activity- after all, safety is found in numbers. After the first two years in high school, though, we were no longer a number.
Of course, Stan, under Wendy's watchful eye, still kept out of the whole thing, and I'm pretty sure Cartman just pussied out, but Kenny… Everyone always spewed that "getting high offers an escape" bull-crap, and if anyone needed to be offered an escape, it was Kenny. So, I guess I couldn't say I was too surprised when he fell in line with the notorious druggie group. Disappointed, yes. Surprised, who was?
Because I had been his friend for years, of course I tried to talk with him about it, but of course my mother would have none of that. I was kind of forced to keep my nose clean- not that I would've dirtied it if given the opportunity. But once my mother heard about Kenny's new habit, she really cracked down.
And I was pretty pissed at her.
Because, as an adult, she didn't try to get Kenny help, or tell his parents, or anything of the sort. She just knew that he wasn't a good influence, and she thought that I shouldn't be hanging around that crowd, what with my straight A's and my clean record. So, she told me, I wouldn't hang around 'those types of people'.
She would not have them changing me to their type.
But one thing that she didn't count on, didn't even think about, was the concept of me trying to change them.
