The scene is a dark castle lit up by flashes of colored light. There is a gigantic room in the castle and in it people lay, their eyes closed, looking as if they might get up any second, but they never will. Two tired women carry a body over to where the dead people lie and began to put it down on the floor. Then one of the women motions to the body of a dead man. He is too thin, with a mustache and greying hair. There are lines on his face and his clothes are old. The women lay his wife down next to him.

Move, move to a house far away from the warring castle to where a newly-widowed woman sits with a baby on her lap. She is trying to listen to the radio, but the only sound it makes is static. Suddenly it makes a sound and she jerks, leaning closer to listen to it. Startled, the baby cries.

As she hushes the baby the woman listens to the radio. "Potterwatch. River here. Voldemort is dead!" Before the woman can rejoice the voice goes on. "The list of the killed is not fully known yet, but here are the names we do know." The voice sounds dead. "Lavender Brown, Jenny Moore, Remus Lupin, Darrin Bently, Nymphadora Tonks…" Upon hearing her daughter's name the woman begins crying wildly. Dimly, she hears the radio voice join her and the baby cries too, scared.

Together they cry, over the dead the wounded, the missing. Together they cry over a battle won, a war ended. Together the cry for the light.
