A LOVE TO COUNTER BLACKNESS

Ch. 1

by: Kawaii Saku-chan Grrl

A girl with a cascade of shimering blue hair down to her knees and eyes to match walked down the street one day. She was headbanging to w-inds and had a stick of cherry gum in her mouth. everone she walked past gave her a disgusted look, remebering her face in the news. Something bad happened to her, but it was in the past. She chose to ignore them and be cheerful and happy like she always was. She twilred while singing "Make You Free" at the top of her lungs. Before the past, people used to be awed by her singing voice. now they just turne up there noses in desgust and walk away. It makes Akimoto Ayumi cry sometimgs, but she'll smile through her tears and continue to skip along because its all in the past. People should let go of the past.

In the horizon, she found a boy her age, maybe a year oler, crying undernerth a tree. Taking pity on his saddened soul, she walked up to him and flashed him the brightest smile in the whole world.

His glimmering orbs met her's with despare. "Please don't smile like that, Miss. My friend Eiji used to smile like that. I can't bare being reminded o-o-of him... "

He cried more, and Ayumi wrapped her arms around the stranger, not knowing what got her to do so.

"Was he the acrobatic tennis player who died of cancer?"

Oishi looked up at her and swallowed. "Hai."

"I'm so sorry," Ayumi burst into tears over the stranger's loss. And Oishi being a nice guy wrapped his strong arms around her. He hated making girls cry.

When she regained her composture she scrubed her damp orbs and smiled. He was such a sweat guy. She felt a pang at the base of her belly, but that was probably just cuse she was hungry.

"Would you like to get some sushi? I know a great place?"

Oishi looked at her shocked and smiled. "H-Hai."

She took his hand in hers and they were off.

---

Oishi wondered what a pretty girl like her could posibly want with him. He was such a loser; not really all that good at tennis. He was incomplete without Eiji, even though Eiji's last wrods to him were a plee to continue tennis. Of course Eiji would want that. They were friends, good friends. He had to fullfill eiji's last wihs/

But he wasn't no good. He considered quiting for quite some time. Like taka-san and his sushi, Oishi needed to work on his doctor training (AN: He has two years of doctor experiance!)

"Syu-san? You've hardly touched your food."

"I'm... not really fond of wasabi."

"Really? I love it."

Her perfectly painted purple lips sparkled in the sunset light, making Oishi to blush. he put the sushi in his mouth to ignore the tingly feeling in his stomach. After all, the prettiest girl in the whole wide world would never date him. He smiled sadly at the thought of her wrapped in his arms again but for a different reason. It would never ever happen.

"Syu-san, you have sushi on your face!"

She wiped it off the corner of his mouth and licked her finger. It made him blush, but he tried to hide it. Kami-sama, she was pretty.

---

Oishi and Ayumi saw each other alot. She transferred to Seigaku from Rikkai but she wouldn't say why. She had a big bruise on her leg. Oishi asked about it worried and she said she walked into a door. He chose to believe her and met her outside of the school after tennis practice to walk her home.

"Say, I was wondering... " said Syuichiroh with a big blush on his face all of a sudden. Ayumi faced him with a confused look on her face. He wasn't usually this shy. What was going on?

"You know you can tell me anything, Syu-san."

"I-I-I-I-I willyougoonadatewithme."
