Dear Mom,
Al & I love you and we miss you. I finally got Al into a real body, instead of his suit of armor, and he's happier now, needless to say.
Do you remember Winry Rockbell from next door? Of course you do, who am I kidding? Well, she and Al are engaged now, and they're happy, and I'm happy for them. I would like to think that you would be too.
And speaking of dating… I'm seeing someone too, Mom. I'd like to think that you would approve, but I'm not sure that you would. Al & Winry already know about it, and I feel bad about telling you last, but I guess its better just to get it out right now. I'm in love with Roy Mustang. And he loves me. He wants to be with me for the rest of his life, and I would like to be with him for the rest of mine.
Now that I look back on what I just said, I'm guessing I could have broken that to you a little more gently, but I never do anything gently, especially when I want to tell you something.
I wish you could see al now. He's growing up on me, and I don't know what to do with him. Or myself, now that I think about it.
I love you mom.
I hope you can see me, wherever you are.
Your son,
Edward
Ed sighed as he signed his name on the letter. He folded it into an envelope, sealed it, and wrote "Mom" on the front. He gently placed the envelope in his pocket, and walked to his mother's gravesite. He placed the envelope in front of her tombstone along with a bouquet of flowers he brought.
"Hey mom. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Well, I hope you understand, about… everything. About Roy and me, and about everything else I've done these past few years. I miss you mom."
A breeze ruffled his hair, and put a gentle smile on Ed's face.
"I love you too. And no, I won't forget it."
As he walked away from his mother's grave, Edward saw a lone figure standing n the distance. Edward walked over to Roy, and looked up into his eyes.
"You alright," the Flame Alchemist asked.
"Yeah, I am now."
"I'm glad," Roy stroked Edward's face, and smiled sadly.
They walked away from the plot together, inseparable for the rest of their lives.
