I woke up this morning, and the saddest, sickest, smallest, grayest looking plot bunny you ever saw hopped into my lap. I planned to brush it aside, like I do most, but it looked up at me with the biggest, saddest blue eyes….and here we are.

This is my first fanfic ever (that I've actually put on paper) so don't be too judgmental about my problems with tenses, my awful memory of the manga's plot and ending, and the plot bunny that happened to kill Mizuki off.

Disclaimer: I don't own Hana Kimi. If I did, Umeda would be wearing his bikini much more often. LET'S DANCE TOGETHER!

-Yuujirou, did I ever tell you why I came to Japan? To meet Sano?-

A tear rolled down Sano's cheek. He'd never hear that voice again. Looking over at the bunk bed they used to share, he could almost imagine her pulling back the curtain on the top and grinning at him. Almost.

"Sano…Are you alright?" A worried face stood in the doorway. It took Sano a minute to recognize it in his broken state.

"Nak…atsu?" he croaked. Sano's hand went to his throat. He hadn't realized how long he had been crying. Nakatsu walked over and crouched on the floor next to his friend.

"I under stand how you feel, Sano. I….I loved her, too. You know that. But doing this to yourself won't help. You have to accept-"

"I CAN'T!" Sano cut him off. He winced and his hand went to his throat again. He'd never realized how much crying hurt. "I can't…" he said again, quietly. "I…I LOVE her, Nakatsu. It's not fair! Why did it have to turn out like this?!"

Nakatsu looked at his friend, who had begun to cough violently, in pity. "I know it isn't fair, and I know you'll hate me saying this, but life isn't fair sometimes. What do you think I said when she chose you?"

Sano looked up at Nakatsu. There was a pained look on his face, but he was trying hard to smile through it. I'm so selfish…thought Sano. Everyone else is suffering, too, but I'm making them worry about me as well His eyes began to water again. But I can't help it!. He started sobbing, and buried his face in Nakatsu's chest. "Her plane CRASHED, Nakatsu! It crashed, and no one lived. She's GONE!"

Nakatsu stared down at his crying friend in shock. I've never seen him messed up this bad…A sad smile spread on his face, and he embraced Sano. "There, there…It's gonna be okay, alright? I know she's not here anymore, but she wouldn't like it if she'd made you upset." He started rocking slowly, back and forth…

Sano was rocked in his friend's arms for what seemed like hours, and eventually his sobbing fell silent and his breathing grew steady. Nakatsu looked down at Sano's tear stained, sleeping face and smiled softly. "Don't worry…" he whispered, placing Sano on the lower bunk. "You'll find someone to love again." He kissed him on the forehead, turned out the light, and quietly stepped out of the room.

So? It wasn't TERRIBLE was it? I know it's not great, and it's awful short, but please review and tell me what you think, okay? This is more than likely a one-shot. I lose interest in stories pretty quickly, so don't expect it to continue. Thanks for reading!
