Heather was stuck in a situation that she couldn't get out of. She had an affair with someone from her past. She is engaged to be married to her fiancé. What is she going to do?
Heather was sitting on the bed thinking of what she had done to herself and to her future. She looked at Joseph. She watched him as he slept. She then got up wrapped a sheet around her, found her clothes, and put them back on. She went into her room to change into some fresh clothes when she heard someone knocking at the door. She quickly changed and ran to the door. It was Reginald, her fiancé. She was hesitant when she saw him. "Hello sweetheart. How did you sleep last night? I just couldn't stop thinking about you. How I longed for you my dear," he said. Heather let out a chuckle. "I slept just fine last night dear. Thanks for asking." "Aren't you going to invite me in? It is rather cold out here, luv," he asked.
She didn't want to let him in. "Reginald, darling, I am not feeling all that great today. Maybe you could visit another day," she said. Meanwhile upstairs, Joseph was waking up. He noticed that Heather was not next to him. "I wonder where she could be?" he thought. Back down stairs, Reginald was discouraged that he could not come in to be with his fiancée. "Alright, luv. I'll come back later. When your feeling better. I'll be sure to call before I come over. Hope you get to feeling better. I love you. I'll see you later." He then turned around and left not giving Heather the time to tell him goodbye and give him a kiss.
She closed the door behind her and sighed then began to cry. All she could do was think about what she had done to herself. Joseph was walking down the stairs. When Heather noticed him, she turned to the mirror by the door and wiped her face. "Who was that?", he asked. "My fiancé," she replied. "Your…….fiancé? Your engaged? Why didn't you say something before we..uh..well you know?" he asked. "I didn't want to tell you. I'm sorry. I didn't want to hurt you. I am so sorry!" she said. She began to cry again. She ran up the stairs. He watched her run up the stairs. He put his head in his hands. He just stood there. He went up the stairs to talk to Heather. "I just wanted to collect my things, well what I have, and go. I don't want cause any harm and I didn't mean too. I really didn't. I'm sorry if I ruined anything you had with this man," he said. He collected his things and walked out the door. Heather realized that she had ruined everything she had. There was only one solution. She knew what she had to do. She had to go to her fiancé and tell him the truth.
That night, she called her fiancé to tell him the truth. She picked up the phone to call him but she couldn't bring herself to do it. "You have made a mistake so you have to fix it. That's what you were taught to do so you have to do it." she thought. She went to the liquor cabinet down the hall to get a glass of vodka. She sat down in the chair next to the cabinet. She poured a drink. She downed it. She sat there a minute looking at the glass. She decided to pour another. She downed it. She poured another then another then another then another then another. A short time later, she had drank the whole bottle. She wasn't feeling well and decided to go lay down for a bit but she couldn't get up because she was so drunk. She sat there in thought yet again because she couldn't get up. "There is only one way out of this mess," she said, "I'll take the lazy man's way out. Suicide."
