A story of the granddaughter of the last Batman and her journey to pick up where batman left off, a Gotham city 30 years after her grandfather is what Ashlyn Wayne has grown up in, daily news feeds on crime and murders. The year is 2025; food is served up by push button machines and apartments tower in the skies and trust and loyalty are hard to come by. Ashlyn notices very little of this growing up with Colin her caretaker, in her wealthy and privileged lifestyle. Until Colin tells her a story of her grandfather and the bat, a silver bracelet changes her life, and life in Gotham City.

"This morning in Gotham a mysterious killer is on the loose. The body count is now in the double digits. Our news anchor Tara Keane is on location to get us up to date in this grievous series of events"

Ash squints through her mass of black/blue hair in a failed attempt to see the alarm clock two feet away. Reaching out feeling her way she finds the off switch and the annoying news feed ends.

It's twenty five years since Gotham city had its winged protector, the so called Batman. Smiling at the thought, she'd heard a news report to that effect yesterday evening. Gotham has always had a high crime rate, the citizens were used to this. Even the last Batman ended up to be nothing more than a crook.

"Lights level 4" Ash says into the darkness. The lights automatically through voice recognition brighten Ash's room. Rolling over and sitting up she reaches for her glasses that she'd left on the pillow next to were she slept. Slipping the black tinted glasses on her face she opens her eyes. Never being able to remember a time when light of any sort didn't hurt her eyes she'd never given a second thought to wearing them.

Stretching her arms over her head and cracking her shoulders and loosening her back muscles "god I need coffee" she says looking down at her cat. Sin, her all black cat looks hopefully up at her it's light blue eyes a perfect match to Ash's. Who's eye color was another reason she always wore tinted glasses, being such a light blue there was practically no color to them at all.

"Breakfast is in order I believe" In her apartments kitchen Ash hits a few buttons and the F.P.S. (Food Processing System) serves up a cup of black coffee and a plate of cat food for Sin.

"Coffee does not count as breakfast young lady" Smiling over her coffee Ash tells Colin her caretaker since she was a baby "for some of us it does and making faces won't change it" Her smile fades as once again se looks at Colin seeing how old he is.

Colin gazes out the window shifting foot to foot, "it's been almost thirty years since we had a true Bat protecting the city you know.

"Not you too Colin! It's been all over the news." Staring down into her empty coffee cup. "It also happens to be someone's twenty fifth birthday, if my old brain did the math right" Colin turns as he says this holding out a small box.

"You remembered!" Ash shrieks running and catching Colin in a hug that knocks the wind out of him.

"How could I forget Ashlyn" Untangling himself from Ash and handing her the box.

Taking the box and ripping it open Ash pulls out a silver bracelet adorned with a black onyx stone cut into the shape of a bad. Laughing Ash looks at Colin "Overly dramatic, I believe my dear Colin you've got Bats on the brain".
