A Cross to Bear

The fact the two of them understood each other so much had, at some point, become irrelevant. They had shared leadership of the Rescue Team. Chase had only gotten more set on the rules, ever since they had two new recruits to take under their wing.
So, they kept their distance unless it was truly unavoidable.
Heatwave also couldn't forget when they first arrived on Earth, when he couldn't wait to be reassigned to Optimus' team. He was more distant from the others, especially when they were the last rescue bots from Cybertron.
Chase had grown to appreciate Earth, even though it still had its oddities and he was still a stickler for the rules. He proved to be loyal and stuck by until the bitter end, his spark frightened no more and fully aware of his obligation on their new home.
But, it was only natural that he and Chase would share leadership and that either one would take charge if the other was out of the picture, with Heatwave having become a triple changer and the whole team gaining Dinobot forms.
However, over time, it was clear that their partnership mattered from inside their team, and outside of it as well; it would be a cross to bear.
