In the Moonlight
There weren't many things that fascinated Jack Frost to the point of awe, and after roaming the earth for 300 years a part of him thought he had seen it all, but deep down he knew he was wrong… and when he had seen her in all her splendor he knew he was right.
He hid in the shadows as the echoes of whimsical laughter filled the sleepy town of Burgess. Dream sand lit up the night sky as dozens of Fairies flew through the air doing their job with the precision of tiny soldiers.
He made himself scarce knowing the fairies would abandon their duties and swarm around him. it's not that he didn't like the sweet little tooths… it was just a little intimating to be mobbed by them.
Not mention they weren't what he was looking for… he was looking for their queen.
As if on cue she appeared and what a sight she was…
Free and joyous, fluttering about like a spring flower in the wind…
He heard it again… her laughter… it echoed and found it's way to his ears. She was closer. He placed his hood on and stayed in the fire escape he hid in. he tucked his body into the darkest corner hoping to remain unnoticed.
The moonlight reflected of every single one of her feathers and produced a glow that the northern lights would have envied. Toothiana was many things to many people but none, not even aloof old Jack, could deny …
she was so beautiful…
there were times it was intimidating just to look at her… let alone to have her looking you…
Those rose colored eyes that saw the world through rose colored glass…
They were too much at times…
… their heat burn through him … years of loneliness had left him unprepared for something like this…
…ice doesn't burn in heat… it melts and ceases to be.
That was his excuse as he'd pull away from her gaze or brush off kind gestures. He was ice… ice cracks under pressure…
He drank in the sight of her one last time as she drew closer flying into a near by apartment building. The new guardian could hear her chiming her orders and consulting her counterparts. Her no nonsense tone brought his usual smirk to his lips. Same old Tooth.
Jack had lived in solitude for far too long to understand what this admiration he felt for Tooth was, he doubted it was love, they were much too old for something so trivial and fickle sounding as love, longing seemed too over the top as well… admiration was the only word he was content with.
He took his leave silently, making sure he'd stay out of view, he was barely able to come to terms with these… thoughts himself, he didn't want to add Tooth's reaction into the mix. Before he could finish vanishing with the wind he heard a faint whisper that made him feel strange and excited at the same time.
"Yes… I…I really hope we bumped into him too." Her hushed voiced admitted. "I don't think there is anything more beautiful than Jack Frost's smile in the moonlight."
