Freedom

Ever since Astra saw her parents in that mirror, she learned from Dumbledore that it shows you what your heart's desire was.

And many 'men' wasted away before it because what they want, was beyond their reach. That it would be moved away into a new home soon before it drives another insane.

So Astra has a number of wishes, taking notes, writing down what the mirror shows her.

About her family and information - she was shocked by these facts about her family that she immediately mailed Gringotts about her family's holdings. They confirmed it and they were stunned that they keep sending her mail about them and the fact she doesn't get anything! That, was illegal by the way...but at least, now she knows. When she consulted the mirror about other things...

...she was furious.

She then asked for information about people dangerous to her and people she could count on, but...she also could not at the same time!

In short, she has no future in this world. None. At all.

And removing her Horcrux could mean she could possibly die as well.

Despairing, after the school year, she had a House Elf take her to Gringotts to avoid the train while compulsing Ron and Hermione not to look for her in the train and focus on going home.

'Welcome, Miss. Potter.' the goblin greeted.

'I wish my visit is out of good things...but I only have horrors with me.' Astra choked out, giving the goblin a piled of parchment. 'This is all what I've learned from the Mirror before it was gone...and what happened this year,' Astra told him about the Quirrellmort Incident. 'I have no future here, what do I do?' she asked despairingly. 'I'm...set up to die.'

The goblin read everything so it really took a while...

'This doesn't look good.'

'My only hope is what the mirror told me. A gateway to another world where I could live.' said Astra. 'The Veil of Death in the Ministry is actually the Veil of Banishment. It Banishes a supposedly Death Row Criminal to other worlds, stranding them there. Me, I can survive unlike these wand-deprived idiots, I can cook, and do chores. And I have plenty of time to study before the Promised Date as the Veil randomly changes worlds every day. I need to be by that Veil at a certain date so I was hoping that my money will be turned into bullions so I have something to trade with, after I buy spellbooks I need to live and books about how to live like survivor castaways and farming books.'

'Moving out your entire fortune is ten million.' said the Goblin grimly. 'In each Galleon, Sickle and Knut.'

'Sold. The Headmaster will arrange for me to be killed when war happens as he thinks he would...I don't want to die.' Astra choked out. 'No wonder my life was the way it was. No slip of happiness allowed and all misery so I have no attachments to this world.' she said bitterly. 'It was all set up. I'll get ahead of him first! I'll survive no matter what!' she swore in determination. 'That monster!'

She purchased books about household convenience, building, offense and defense in Diagon Alley, had rented three house elves to steal household necessities for her and she purchased three Seven-Compartment Trunks to hold it all for her, and went out clothes shopping with the protection of an elf to hide her from people looking for her. She bought shirts, pants and sneakers with things that actually fit her after getting much-needed medical treatments to be healthy before she goes.

Thus at age twelve, by the time she was fully healthy and packed, she took the plunge with her shrunken trunk in her backpack.

The other side...

...is a Hill.

A grassy hill of drying grass. Not far down below is a forest and a river. And on the other side, is a village.

'...as long as there's a river and forest, I'll be fine.' she mused. 'I'll be OK.'

Taking a deep breath, she made her way downhill. She will live by the riverside not far from that village she saw so she wouldn't feel TOO lonely.

Took her hours even on her broom, a Cleansweep Seven. Her precious Nimbus 2000 and 2001 are safely locked in her trunk.

Upon arrival by the riverside, she began to work.

She infiltrated the nearby village to see how their houses are made first, and where to get materials.

Stone, wood, thatch, clay and some sort of natural plaster?

That, she can work with.

Upon knowing how to obtain the plaster, she set to work with her books.

Her chosen house to live in, is a Japanese Thatched Hut. She took the straw from the Mill after the farmers milled those strange grains of theirs, but to her relief its the kind she needs. She took it all, as well as needed nails and rope and set to work.

Clearing the land she's on comes first.

With her magic, she built her living room first, then the kitchen and water pump she needs. Besides the kitchen, is the bathroom and behind her house, is the Laundry Space.

And upstairs, is her own bedroom.

Then she set to work on the roof...unaware she was watched.

Once she was done, she took to stealing food in the nearby village. She stole meat and proceeded to cook her food using her own stock of food.

Once she was done...she heard a knock on her door.

"That's weird, it's just me and nobody saw me..." she frowned as she opened the door with her magic...to see a girl slightly older than her in fancy black dress with dark purple frills...and IS THAT AN AXE?!

The girl spoke in her native tongue. So she prodded her throat with her wand and uttered the spell needed for translation before putting her hand down. 'Er, what did you say?'

'Hoo? That's convenient.' said the girl. 'You're the newcomer from another world aren't you? Care to tell me how you got here miss magic girl?' she asked her. 'For the record I am Rory Mercury, the Apostle of the God of Darkness, Violence, War and Death.'

'I am Cattleya Astra Potter. I kinda ran away from my world. I'm 12 years old when I left it today.' said Astra as she let Rory in.

'Oh...then why did you leave?'

'Well...' Astra told Rory her reason for fleeing. That she was being groomed for a life of misery so she would not hesitate to die 'for the cause'. 'I want to live, be happy and actually have a future.' Astra griped. 'I can't count and rely on anyone. Dumbledore's too powerful and influential. And what he says, goes. Those who would have helped me would eventually say, 'If he says so it can't be helped, you should die.' I have no one on my side except for the Goblins who helped me. I'm...all alone.' she choked out. 'Thanks to the Mirror of Desire, I was able to find that Gate. That so-called 'Veil of Death' is a Gateway to Other Worlds and it changes worlds every day. Death Row convicts who were chucked there are actually marooned in other worlds.'

'And my kind doesn't know how to function without a magic wand. They lived lazy lives relying on too much magic to even reach objects just within arm's reach!' Astra snorted. 'Me who lived a life of slavery under my relatives, I can successfully live on my own.'

'I see...Veil of Death, huh?' Rory looked thoughtful. 'And this magic mirror told you when it was safe to cross?'

'Yes because the other worlds erm, aren't inhabitable or too much monsters...very few worlds have civilization. A 1/10 case.' said Astra. 'So I ended up here in your world by crossing the Veil at a certain date after I took what books I needed to start a living.' she said. 'My only problem is, the parasite on my forehead which is why I was set up to die a martyr.'

'Fufu, that's easy.' said Rory, eyeing the glum girl who clearly had a good reason to run. She reached for Astra's forehead. 'This'll hurt a bit...'

'Eh?'

Rory pinched Astra's forehead.

While that didn't hurt, 'something else did' as Rory pulled out a tattered-looking...ghost of an old man of her scar. By the end of it Astra was twitching and writhing on the floor in pain.

'Nobody can cheat death~and this guy tore his own soul for so-called immortality? What a fool.' Rory scoffed. 'My lord will have him punished appropriately.' she stated. 'And young Astra, sorry about that but he was so deeply rooted within your magic and soul which was why the pain was so intense, but don't worry, it'll subside in an hour as I applied Healing Magic into your being.'

'T-thank you...I'm just glad I'm free now. I can live freely and quietly...' Astra gasped out. 'But can you teach me how this world works when you're back later?'

'Hoho! Sure thing! That's my job as well when I was assigned to your case.' and Rory was gone.

It indeed, took Astra a while to recover to even eat her food.

As for bed, she settled in a sleeping bag until she can build an actual bed.
