Betrayals
Silence pricked a dark haired, 17 year-old girl's ears as she moved through the forest, her special weapon in her hands. Joslynn Lee, mostly called Josh, glanced around the warm forest, birds singing over head and squirrels scavenging for food. But, Josh wasn't any normal teenager. She had a secret. Josh could transform.
A crack sounded not far from Josh. She froze, terror seeping through her veins. A familiar voice spoke not far away.
"Why do you do this every time?" his voice asked, laughing after the statement.
"Jason, why do you always think there is a need to scare me every time I'm alone?" she snapped, irritation pricking through her body.
Jason chuckled as he walked out from behind the tree he was sitting under.
"It's funny. Your animal instincts just take over." he said, walking over to Josh.
Jason was strangely like Josh in looks, but not personality. His well muscled body corresponded with his dark brown hair and light blue eyes. Compare him to Josh, you'd think they were siblings. But, they weren't. Just part of the group of transformers that lived in the wild.
"Ha, ha. Would you quit doing that? I feel like the desert transformers were going to attack anytime." Josh said, putting a skinny hand on her hip, a scowl on her face.
"You? Scared of the deserters? Oh my gosh, Josh. You've got to be kidding me. I thought you weren't scared of anything."
With a growl, Josh snorted. "Shut up, Jason."
The two stayed silent the rest of the way back to their "dens", as they would call it. As they approached Jason's den, Jason said his goodbyes and things like, "See you tomorrow,".
Josh walked in silence, her blue, almost gray, eyes fixed on the road ahead of her. The darkening sky contained one, brightly shining star.
Reaching her den, Josh crawled inside, her small body easily slipping into the rocky den. Inside most dens were like normal houses, with a bed and eating area. But, no electronic devices were found, for Josh and the other transformers lived in the wild.
Here in Bright Forest, all the entertainment was fighting, sleeping, or even eating. On the Yellow Grass Moorland, it was running. I could go on and on, but I think you would get the point.
Josh walked around and headed into her kitchen area, fixing up deer and squirrel meat stew. All day hunting, she was hungry. It was a painful time waiting for her food to finish cooking. She hadn't eaten since last night.
A sudden thought rushed into the 17 year-old girl's mind: It was almost fighting day. Fighting day was a month fighting the other transformers and your own kind of transformers, the ones you share a habitat with. You could choose allies, but the trick was, only one of you survived, for this fight was to the death.
Shaking her head, Josh sat down, reaching for a copy of a book she was currently reading, The Hunger Games. She had traded out some of her food for this book, for she heard it was very good. And, there was fighting. She could possibly learn something from this book.
Soon, midnight approached, and Josh rest her book down beside her. She knew she wouldn't be able to sleep. Soon, Josh could be dead by the end of the day.
Shaking her head, Josh sat down on her bed, laying down. She didn't feel her eye lids grow heavy with sleep. How would she be able to rest up for tomorrow? Fighting Day may have just begun. Josh had no idea what was ahead of her.
Thoughts flooded through her. What if I find love and … What if I have to kill my own best friend?Things like that kept her awake, unable to sleep. Things like that, she was dreading for the following day.
