AN: Huh. This was actually kind of random. But it was not bad so I thought I'd post it.
Allen Walker will die.
It doesn't matter who wins- the Black Order or the Millenium Earl.
Allen Walker will die.
His body will become a house for Apocryphos, and he will protect the Heart forever- but he will have no control. His identity will be scrubbed out, leaving his body as an empty shell for the Apocryphos to use.
Or he will become Nea, and he will conquer the world [that's what Nea tells him jokingly, but he's not really sure that's what the man really wants]. Nea's mind will erase his from existence, and his body will become Nea's, a container for the 14th.
Allen Walker will die, either way.
But that doesn't mean he's going to give up just like that.
He fights and he runs. It's like walking on a tightrope- you can't lean too far to either side or you'll fall. It's a juggling act, a balancing act. He tries and tries and he doesn't give up, even though he brushes close to death.
He sees the Apocryphos' face for the fourth time in six months. He gets the hell out of there. The Apocryphos gives chase, but he's faster. The more distance he can put between them, the better, he thinks, so he runs and runs and runs, and even though he gets away this time, he thinks that seeing the Apocryphos' face is much, much too close.
He's attracting Akuma, and his skin is dark again. It's because of Nea- the 14th's struggling for control and freedom, but he fights and fights and fights, and Nea's suppressed, but as his skin lightens and he wins this round, he thinks that seeing his skin darken is much, much too close.
[there's a whisper of, "Mana taught you how to balance better than that. You're a clown after all, a circus act. Balancing? Easy stuff." But he ignores it because he hasn't got the time- he's busy trying not to die]
He fights and he runs and he survives. He escapes the Apocryphos and he pushes back Nea, because his will to survive is stronger than his bonds [than Lavi's laughter, than Kanda's rivalry, than Lenalee's tears as she begs him to stay].
He survives, even though both sides tell him it's futile.
[Just give up, give your body to me, cut off your Innocence and surrender. Just give up, merge with me, let me catch you and the Noah will be rejected. Surrender.]
Allen Walker will die, he knows.
But every day, he wakes up, runs, fights and survives, and he tells himself, Not today.
