The rush of being on his tail normally pushed her, the hatred of the man who slaughtered so many of her loved ones, who played her so easily, the man she had once looked up to and even fallen in love with, finding him drove her to work harder than ever before. Now it flooded her with fear, it had been years since she'd last see his devilish face, and even though a huge part of her life revolved around finding him, she wasn't ready to face him again. There was nothing quite like seeing him, nothing like the scent he put off or the way he looked through her, it always had a way of making her weak. This time she swallowed it down, thinking only of her mission, she would have plenty of time to reminisce while he was in a cage.
But of course, things would never be that simple, nothing would ever be tied up neatly in a bow, not with him.
Albert Wesker wouldn't come without a fight, so fought they did. Hits flew, mostly missing, he moved so quickly, and they knew him well enough to avoid his fists. One misstep and she ended up on the ground under his boot, looking into the eyes of the devil himself, he smirked at the way she squirmed undertow, helpless and hurt. A frustrated yell after seeing Chris recovering from being kicked across the room, the sound of a gun cocking snapped her back to the blond man. Eyes wide she watched him take aim, a mixture of fear and panic strangled her, but she managed to grab her knife and cut into his calf, he reeled away from her putting the gun away. He hesitated. If he hadn't , she'd be dead, but he did, spared her life.
Another few minutes passed with the three of them dancing across the room dodging, ducking, lashing out in hopes of maiming the other, till again he had her in his grip. Lifted so easily up off the ground, watching her wriggle around, choking the life from her, studying the helpless look. Chris charged to the rescue, they three again challenged each other Wesker hitting her across the room and leaving her breathless as he beat the other man, rising him up ready to "Finish this", but she would never let that happen.
The free fall was horrifying, she clutched to his so tightly he ripped some of her nails when he twisted around in her hold, pulling her arms up into his chest with one hand, he hugged her close to him. For a split second it felt like he was trying to protect her, he angled his back to the ground and cupped her head firmly to his stomach, she couldn't move away from him.
Thinking back on her time with him, he always pushed her harder then the boys, asked more of her then anyone, once he had said it was "So the idea that I actually like you never crosses your mind, or anyone else's for that matter." they were sleeping together at the time so she thought it was for show. They'd roll around beneath sheets, then run around right beneath the team's feet, on his desk back when they had a different squad room and his office was behind a door. Staring at her with his educated eyes thinking of ways to rile her up so she'd come at him with all she had, she chose that lover and she is unforgiven for the crimes of loving the devil, but she didn't think he even remembered, he ran off to find someone else pay for his for crimes. What a fool she was, thinking he actually loved her… She thought she had something special, in the way they had their own coded speak, his hands shaking, his hair falling in his face, in the way his lips tasted. But she was just a fool to sacrifice, she was a fool and she paid the price for falling for him.
Now they were coming down, to pay in full for the things they had done.
