"You're actin' weird today," she says, eyeballing him over her bowl of frosted sugarpops.
"That's because I have just killed five people."
She arches a single, thick, and bushy brow as he sits down across from her. The statement isn't even said in Wolverine's normal voice, intoning even more in his sidekick that something is dreadfully wrong with him. She flashes him the grin that he almost always finds contagious. "What? Just five before breakfast?"
She rises before he can answer and walks to the tiny refrigerator with the single, flickering light bulb in the run down apartment they're currently sharing, which they'd both agree normally was far worse than camping out underneath the stars if they hadn't needed cover last night. She grabs a coke and a beer, then returns, popping the top of his beer, setting it before him, and settling in across from him to wait however long is necessary, this time, for him to spill the beans. They never know how long the wait will be, but they both do know that he will spill the info - and she'll help him through whatever it is again this time. Her pink, bunny slippers wink up at them both, grinning with the knowledge that this is just one of the things that makes them so perfect for each other.
The End
