The Forest and the Trees
I remember when this land had peace,
When men and beasts moved free.
When the wind, it whispered over water,
When birds sung happily.
…
I remember life before the towers,
Before the minions charged.
Before bow and arrow, cannon fire,
Before sword's steel shone like stars.
…
I remember this as a virgin realm,
One without blood on soil.
Before the lanes of combat started,
Through conflict, land despoiled.
…
I remember when I saw a forest,
Could not see it from the trees.
Now every turn a death trap,
Where combatants strike and flee.
…
Fighting rages in the summer,
And in the winter's chill.
Wars in fall, wars in spring,
No lull, nothing is still.
…
And now my time has come to fight,
They call me an Eternal.
Here to fight, not to ponder,
To bring carnage most infernal.
…
So I see the forest from the trees,
I see blood upon the ground.
I see towers, I see foes,
I see minions all around.
…
This realm is called the Eterlands,
This realm is where we fight.
The sun has set on Eterlands,
Now comes the dark long night.
