AN/ This story picks up the following day after the season finale. Nothing happened between Rory and Dean. But Luke and Lorelai did kiss.

Lorelai Gilmore rushed into her house and went directly to Rory's room. Luke had kissed her last night, and she hadn't seen his since. She had skipped the Diner that morning and instead went straight to work, "Rory! You'll never guess what I found out!"

Rory closed the book she was reading and swiveled in her blue desk chair to face Lorelai, "What?"

"Well, aren't you gonna guess?"

"What's the point of guessing if I'm never gonna guess?" Rory said sensibly.

"What book are you reading?" Lorelai's face took on a suspicious expression.

"A book of different poems and random thoughts of famous writers. Why?"

"I figured it was something like that. Because you're over thinking a simple statement, and I know how you are when you read those kinds of books. You start pondering your life and making a list of your life goals."

Rory shoved a piece of paper into her desk drawer and looked at Lorelai indignantly.

"It was a list, wasn't it?" Lorelai smiled smugly.

"Would you just tell me what the big news is!" Rory said getting frustrated at how well her mother knew her.

"Okay. Michel has a girlfriend!"

"No way!" Rory jumped out of her chair.

"Yep." Lorelai confirmed getting more excited.

"Have you met her?"

"Yes. Sookie told me that she overheard him telling his mom about her and that she was at the Inn right then. So I went into the lobby and found her immediately…"

"How'd you do that?" Rory interrupted.

"She was holding a chow chow puppy."

"Oh."

"Anyway, you haven't heard the best part!" Lorelai continued.

"What?"

"I invited her and Michel to dinner! And since she's a new girlfriend he'll go along with it."

"Cool. You don't plan on making him miserable by telling embarrassing stories about him, do you?" Rory asked.

"You know me too well." Lorelai grinned.

"Let's go to Luke's. I'm hungry." Rory said.

"Um, let's go to The Hungry Diner instead." Lorelai said a little to quickly.

"Why? They have little sissy cups of coffee and they wear funny hats." Rory wrinkled her nose.

"Yeah, well, I don't feel like Luke's today."

"You always want to go to Luke's unless there's something wrong. Is there something you're not telling me?" Rory asked.

"Yes, but I don't want to talk about it right now."

"Whatever it is, you can't hide from him forever."

"I'm just not ready to see him yet after what happened." Lorelai said.

"What DID happen?" Rory questioned.

"Not ready to talk. Since when are these foreign words that you can't understand?"

Rory sighed, "Maybe you should make a list of your own."

"Like what kind of list?" Lorelai asked.

"You decide. Just make a list. It'll help."

"Yeah. Like that'll happen. Hungry Diner here we come!"
