Fakia sat, emotionless staring at the paper in front of him. He thought of ways he could return the small duck in his lap, back to her human form. Ahiru, the small duck, slept lying across the boys lap. The dark haired male was quiet.
'I know I promised, but…' The knight thought, he stood silently now holding the small duck in his arms. Fakia made his way out of the study and into the bedroom. He laid Ahiru onto the bed and quickly returned to the other room. He put his quill to the paper and began writing quickly. His hand moved on its own as the words spilled onto the paper.
"I'm sorry, Ahiru…I just need to see you, hear your voice…just one last time…" Fakia whispered as a single tear dripped from his face and onto the parchment.
It was about two hours before Fakia finally put down the quill. He picked up the pages examining them quietly. He allowed a sigh to escape his lips.
The door to the study creaked open a few moments later.
Fakia didn't move. He knew it was her, and he waited for her scolding.
To the dark haired male's surprise, there was no yelling. No talking. Just quiet, as he felt a pair of arms wrap around him from behind. He slowly averted his gaze from the parchment to the girl, whose head now rested on his shoulder. Ahiru's bright eyes were fixed on him. Her face, expressionless. The two didn't say anything but just gazed into each other's eyes.
It took all of Fakia's will-power to stop him from just connecting the two's lips right there. "Ahiru…" He began, "Gomennasai…." He turned and looked away.
The pink haired girl shook her head softly and a small smile appeared upon her lips. Ahiru put her right hand on the boy's cheek and turned his head towards her. "Fakia…" Her voice trailed off, out of thought. The girl was both happy that she could hug the male, out of fantasizing about it for so long. Yet, at the same time she was upset. He broke the promise and returned her to her human form, therefore putting himself in danger.
The writer waited in long anticipation for the girl to continue, but she didn't. She released her hold and stood up straight. Fakia could see that she had wrapped a sheet around herself.
Ahiru's gaze was low as she turned away from her friend and headed for the door.
"Ahiru, wait." Fakia stood up and grasped a hold on the girl's wrist. The girl didn't protest but instead began to tear. The knight pulled her into him and hugged her tightly. She returned the embrace and began to sob. She was so torn, she knew she should be mad and yelling at him now, but she was so overcome with the realization that now she might be able to live out her fantasies. Either way she knew, she never wanted to leave Fakia's side.
"Why…?" the Duck like girl finally asked. "Why'd you do this?"
The boy was quiet. For several minutes.
"Because," He finally began using his left hand to tilt the girls chin up, so her eyes met his.
"Because, why?"
"I love you." Fakia finally admitted, he wasted no time in fear that Ahiru would pull away out of disgust. He connected his lips to Ahiru's. She didn't pull back but instead, kissed him back. It was then that they both knew, and understood, that was how the story was supposed to end. Everybody got what they deserved, and wanted. Mytho got Rue, as the story says. And Fakia got Ahiru, the only girl that ever opened his heart, and made him fell love and compassion after so long of shutting himself in. Ahiru got her knight in shining armor, it wasn't the prince she dreamed of, but she was happy and loved this knight, even more than the prince.
The story finally ended happily.
