This is a little ficlet for Law & Order: SVU. It'd be nice if one day this could actually happen. *sigh* But, it will never happen; lol.

"Look, we both chose each other over the job. We can never let that happen again. Otherwise... we can't be partners," Elliot whispers.

"I can't believe you're saying that," says Olivia, stunned.

"Look, you and this job are about the only things that I've got anymore. I don't want to wreck that. I couldn't take it," says Elliot as he gets up and walks away.

Olivia tries to stop him, but he's too far gone when she finally gets the nerve to say something.

Then, the scene changes. It's gruesome; a suicide victim is lying in a pool of his own blood. He has a note in his hand.

Olivia picks it up because the letter is addressed to her. It reads, "Liv, I love you. I'm so sorry, I couldn't live without you in my life. -El"

Olivia looks down at the dead body and screams, crying hysterically.

"Liv, Liv, baby," Elliot shakes her, getting worried. Olivia was screaming and crying in her sleep.

Olivia's eyes pop open. She looks into the pair of sapphire eyes that she would kill for, "El," she touches his face, and sits up, "it was all just a dream?"

"Yeah, baby," Elliot kisses her forehead affectionately, "What'd you dream about?"

Olivia stares into space, the picture burnt into her memory, "You committed suicide. And, I dreamt of that one time when you told me we couldn't be partners."

"The Gitano case," Elliot asks, flinching.

"Yes," Olivia flinches too, remembering.

"I regret ever saying that to you." Elliot frowns and rubs soothing circles into her back.

Olivia hugs him, and then turns her head into the juncture of his neck and kisses it, "I love you, Elliot Stabler."

"I love you too, Olivia Stabler."
