A/N: I've wanted to do a little one-shot about James and Lily for a while. So, I did. Now on to the… entertainment.
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
Chocolate Flowers
Sixth Year
"H—how… nice… of you, Potter."
"Do you like them, Lily?"
"Chocolate flowers? Honestly, Potter, what kind of stupid idea is that?"
"It's not stupid!"
"I beg to differ."
"Well, don't girls like chocolate?" James asked. Lily nodded slowly. "And don't they like flowers?" Lily nodded to this too.
"So why not give you a combination of both?" he asked, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"You're hopeless."
"I think not."
"You think wrong."
"Take a bite out of them, you'll change your stance on the idea as soon as you do. I promise." James said with a smile. Lily decided to humor him and took a bite. Her face scrunched up in disgust, and James' smile fell. "You don't like them?"
"No! They're disgusting, you idiot!" Lily shoved the bouquet of flowers back at him, and stalked away.
"Hey! Lily, wait!" She turned around. "Go out with me?"
"… I've never said yes to you before. Why would I say yes now?"
"Because of my wonderful gift…?"
"You really are hopeless." she said, shaking her head before walking away.
So maybe thiswasa bad idea for a Valentine's Day gift.
xx
Seventh Year
"I got a present for you!" James said.
"Please don't tell me that you got me chocolate flowers, again, James." Lily said. He rolled his eyes at his best friend. "Oh, come on. I'm not that stupid."
"I think you are." Lily said with a smile.
"You think wrong."
"I'd tell you to take a bite out of yourself, which would change your stance on the idea as soon as you did so, but I'm afraid that you'd actually do it." She laughed at James' look of indignation. "So, what did you get me?" James blushed and ruffled his hair nervously. "Well?"
"Erm… I sort of got you…"
"Chocolate flowers?" James nodded sheepishly. "You're an idiot. An absolute idiot."
"That's why you love me, though."
"And who said I did?"
"You did, of course!"
"When did I ever say such a thing?" she asked.
"Just the other day."
"I must have been joking."
"Of course."
"Well, anyway, I did get you something." Lily said.
"Did you?"
"Yes, and it's not a bouquet of chocolate flowers, surprisingly enough."
"Well, what is it?" James asked.
"Come here, let me show you." she said, motioning for him to come closer. He complied, walking over to where Lily was sitting on the couch. She stood up and told him to close his eyes, which he did. Getting up on tiptoes, Lily kissed him softly on the lips. At first he smiled and kissed her back, but then pulled away suddenly.
"I have a question."
"What is it?"
"Will you go out with me?"
"Of course, you idiot." Lily said with a smile. James grinned enthusiastically and kissed her again.
So maybe chocolate flowers weren't the greatest gift idea.
A/N: Okay, so that's all. It may seem incredibly stupid to you, and I might be inclined to agree. But I wanted to write it, so I did. Now if you would, please review; I'd really appreciate that. Flame me if you must, but I do reward nice reviews with chocolate flowers.
