Their bags are packed, (what few they have, at least) Auron is cranky from waiting so long (then again, he's always cranky) and Braska's Pilgrimage is about to start.

But something's been bothering Jecht, and while it may not be very tactful to ask (but when is he ever tactful, right?) Jecht just has to know.

"Wait – hey, wait a sec, Braska!" Braska turns and smiles that gentle little Braska smile at him – the one that says everything is going to be okay. "What 'bout Yuna? I mean, if yer gone, and –" Here's that sad lack of tact again, "– if yer wife's gone too, then who'll look after her? Yer not just leaving her, right?"

"Jecht…" He sighs, and again that damn it's okay smile. "I have arranged for someone to look after her while I'm…gone. I'm doing this so Yuna will be able to life a peaceful life without Sin. I'm doing it so that no one has to suffer as we did."

He turns and walks away, away from Jecht and away from his home and away from Yuna who will probably wake up in the morning and ask, "Where did Daddy go?"

And someone will have to tell her that, "He left. He left and he's never coming back and you'll never see him again."

Braska walks away from this all; Jecht snorts, unimpressed and a little bitter. If only Braska knew what Jecht would give to see his own kid again…to ruffle his hair and feathers, to see him play blitzball, (and maybe teach him a thing or two – someone's got to continue his legacy, right?) to watch him grow and grow and grow (will he be tall with dark hair like Jecht, or maybe short with light hair like – shit, we are not going there.) And what would – no, what wouldn't he give to make fun of that kid, to mess with him, to make him cry, to pick him up and tell him what he should have told him while he had the chance – "Tidus m'boy, you're a crybaby and a brat and you'll never be as good a Blitzer as me, but you're my son too and dammit I love you."

But Jecht can't do that anymore.

Braska turns and smiles. Don't worry. It's okay.

This, Jecht thinks, will probably be the one thing Braska does that he will never be able to forgive.
