Author's Note: This actually was a result of an assignment that I had to do for a play that I was in. I was in "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare" and our assignment was to write a couplet based on a Shakespearean character. Of course, I had originally thought that we had to compose a whole sonnet in the style of Shakespeare, instead of just a couplet, and this is what came about (I'm still kicking myself for it). This is supposed to be humorous, so don't take it too seriously. And yes, Richard III does not belong to me, it belongs to the Bard. Please enjoy!
"The Princes' Lament" from Richard III
Before William and his brother Harry,
We were the golden princes, believe it.
Back then, politics were much more scary
Our father was a bloody idiot
Uncle Richard promised to care for us
Father believed him while he lay dying
Shows that Father was an ignoramus
For the murdering monster was lying.
He locked us up in the Bloody Tower
Neverland Ranch it might as well have been
He did it so that he could have power
And then sent thugs to smother his own kin
But thanks to Henry Richmond, he soon fell
We waved to him as he went down to hell.
