Disclaimer: I don't own Howl's Moving Castle. Diana Wynne Jones does, although if it had been me who wrote it I would have made sure that they got the names right in the movie. I mean, come on, MARKL?
When She's Around
Checkerboxed
I watch her move around the room,
Straightening,
Cleaning,
Dusting,
Until I am surprised she will not fall down from exhaustion.
She evades the table corners
With a swiftness that she never had
As an old woman
But now...
Now she is young again
And beautiful
And it is all I can do not to take her into my arm
And whisper sweet nothings in her ears.
Instead, I watchher
She chats with Michael,
Argues with the fire demon,
And glances my way every now and then.
Every time I return her smile,
Every time she crawls into bed with me
Every time I hold her close...
Our worlds merge.
And when they do I feel that my magic is at its strongest
And I can tell that it will continue to grow
When she's around.
