Title: Homunculus
By KuroSakura-chan
Summary: Well, no real summary. This goes with the Prompts series; it was just long enough to warrant its own one-shot status.
Category: Kamen Rider OOO
Disclaimer: Hey, yeah, I don't own Kamen Rider OOO (or any Kamen Rider).
Homunculus: From James from Work
"Maybe the Greeed are homunculi?" The question came from Gotou, sitting at the corner table in Cous Coussier with Date and Hina. Eiji stood at the counter; close, but not necessarily part of the conversations they hold.
"They aren't dwarves, though." Date responded.
"That is speculation from ancient writings. There's no one to say that artificially created lifeforms must be dwarves." Gotou countered. "And the rest of it is there, right? Medals created through Alchemy that make up the Greeeds' beings."
"Artificially created lifeforms…" Hina mused. "Does…does that mean they have no souls?"
Eiji had only been half-listening, but they had his full attention now. No souls? No, that wasn't right. Ankh had a soul. He was a person, just as much as Hina, Date, and Gotou were.
"Probably not. Humans don't understand the soul as it is, so it seems unlikely those alchemists would have been able to implant souls." Gotou answered.
"No, Ankh has a soul! He is a person." Eiji didn't realize he had protested aloud until he heard the quiet 'Eiji-kun' from Hina. "Ah…I mean…"
What did he mean? How could he explain the intensity he saw in Ankh's eyes as his fingers traced the scars on Eiji's skin? Or the passion he felt from Ankh when their lips were intertwined? He couldn't, but he had to say something because they were staring, and he could see Ankh in the doorway, those sharp, sharp eyes watching him.
"Ankh…he is just as much a person as we are. So, I don't think it would really be fair to say he has no soul…" Eiji said softly, trying to give them his usual smile and hide his inner turmoil.
He wasn't sure it worked, but eventually Date shrugged. "Well, it's not like that is important information, since it doesn't relate to beating them." Eiji sighed softly as the other Rider changed the topic and pulled Hina and Gotou's attention away. Ankh, however, still watched Eiji.
When he found Eiji alone later, he shoved an ice candy at him. "Why does it matter so much to you?" He demanded as he began eating his own ice candy.
Eiji stared at the ice candy, contemplating playing dumb. Finally, he sighed, not in the mood for getting punched. "Because you're not an object, Ankh. And that's all I could think when they said you had no soul."
Ankh said nothing, and after awhile, Eiji chanced a look up. The Greeed was watching him, likely studying him, though Eiji did not know for what. "You are an idiot, Eiji." The words were said with their usual inflections, but Ankh slung his arm around Eiji's shoulders as he stole what was left of Eiji's ice candy. The arm stayed, even well after the ice candy was gone.
