A Song Of Tribute

Your shadow reflects a smile
Hiding your teardrops
Knowing the hope of the earth and the proof of the water
And the loneliness of things you couldn't say.

Kira smiled fondly at the familiar sound of Lacus's voice, being broadcast from the radio of his car while he drove along the coast of Orb. The pink-haired songstress was currently attending a meeting with important members of the Orb council, as well as Orb's Representative (his sister) Cagalli Yula Atha, to discuss the rebuilding of cities and habitats affected by the war. Kira had accompanied Lacus, not only because they were now in an official relationship, but also for the moral support and the fact that he had barely seen his sister (the last of his family) ever since the cease-fire. The last few months had been difficult and sad for everyone, but if the world wanted to heal, then it had to be done. Nothing ever occured unless you made the effort.

If you start running, the future is a door that will open and answer you.

Lacus had decided to create a new album that was dedicated to all those who had died during the war, and it had been named after the first song on it's list; 'Emotion' as the song was titled, had been re-released just two weeks ago and already it was a massive hit. It now served as a memorial for the war in it's own special way, as well as Lacus's retirement as a singer since she was now the Chairwoman of the Plants.

Originally, the song had been created by a young girl who sounded exactly like the singer she idolized...A song that represented the pain, confusion and admiration of a soul who became lost.

Emotion- Surely the sky is the shape of my dream.
This pounding heartbeat echoes.
Emotion- I want to softly pile up your dreams.
And quietly closing my eyes, embrace them.

Kira reflected sadly upon how Meer Campbell had become tangled in the mess of politics, propaganda and war. She had altered her entire image, in order to pose as Lacus. A person who inspired peace and hope among the people of Plant. In the end, Meer became one of the many people that Gilbert Durandal deceived, manipulated and finally disposed of (even if the original Lacus had been the real target).

My small secrets dissolve in the rhythm. This true melody is dedicated to you in the quiet night, the figure reflected in the mirror is so much like you that it makes me sad.

In the past I cant turn back to there's only a lonely trembling feeling.

Emotion- It'll surely protect you- So bet on the present it's something you can do because of both light and shadows.

What had started off as a mask, had become a false identity- yet for Meer, it had been her 'true' identity as she had believed herself to be Lacus. Had wanted to be Lacus. However, she had realized the naivety of what she wanted and had even sacrificed her own life for the very person she had been masquerading as.

Relation- I want to tell these feelings more with only honesty born words.
Reflection- I want the truth that appeared there to shine on.
Unchangingly Emotion- Surely this sky is the shape of my dreams. This pounding heartbeat echoes.
Emotion- I want to softly pile up your dreams. And quietly closing my eyes, embrace them...

By singing Meer's song, Lacus had preserved a piece of the girl's memory. A slow, soft and melodic version of the once up-beat song. A sad, yet hauntingly beautiful tribute to a girl who would forever be remembered, by those who had known the truth...A girl who would forever share a part of the songstress's life.
