AUTHORS NOTE:
Hey guys!
So I really wanted to get back into writing, so I thought I would post one of my old drabble kind of stories to break the ice. This is from my old rp blog, so that is why Judith is a teenager during The Saviors time period, in case that didn't make since to most. Anyways thank you so much for reading my first ever posted fanfic, I hope you enjoy it!
WARNING:
Death, blood, fire, and angst.
The archer laid there, while vision blurred as he fought to catch the wind knocked from his lungs. He could feel the pavement under him, digging at the exposed skin and smoke filling his nose, while every ounce of his being ached from the fall. Daryl had been on the wall when it happened, with hardly enough time to cry his warning before the front gate to Alexandria was blown to Hell. Followed by waves of Saviors not far behind, spilling into the safe haven and showering bullets down on anyone they saw.
Clawing to his feet, Daryl was moving as quickly as he could. He could feel something inside him was now broken and a leg drug along while blood spilled heavily from a denim covered gash, yet adrenaline and fear was quick to dull any pain. Letting wide eyes searched for the gun, that had been thrown from his fingers in the chaos.
All around him was fire, screaming, blood, and gunfire, they... his people were being massacred. As trembling fingers found his gun, Daryl turned to see what was becoming of Alexandria. Only to find a sight that made his heart stop, eyes burning with tears at the bodies laid wasted. He knew each and every one of them, someone's home was now up in flames. Rather the Saviors themselves had starter it or the explosion Daryl didn't know, but he knew that it was Aaron and Eric's.
That archer hadn't even realized he was moving, until finger was squeezing the trigger. Filling a running Savior full of bullets, until he fell to the ground in a heap. This went on over and over, destroying any invader he saw. Until a panicked scream caught his ear, "Daryl!" The archers head snap in the direction of the voice.
"Judith!" extending a callused hand, Daryl grabbed her as she moved to him. Holding her close, using himself as her shield, "Come on, honey! I got ya!" The archer could hear his voice shaking, could feel the tears that threaten to run down his face. Yet there was no time for that, they had to save what they could, push The Saviors out.
He lead Judith as they ran, moving through the streets. Letting Daryl mow down anyone in their path, yet bullets only lasted so long, "I'm out… come on." Holding the young girls hand tight, the archer pushed her toward her own home. Rick was there and he would know what to do, he would have more guns. Judith lead the way, yanking the front door open, rushing inside and Daryl swore he never seen him.
Bullets exploded from the direction of the stairs, causing him to duck away as blood coated him. Standing in the Grimes doorway, Daryl watched as Judith fell lifeless in the floor. As the world speed around him, the archer hardly had time to look up. His chest felt to tight, like a hand squeezed his rib cage. Seeing the savior reach the bottom of the steps, he raised his gun in return. CLICK. Daryl only felt a few of the bullets before everything went black.
