A/N: 20 Years at Sea event, Day 18: Fights.

Fights

The Straw-Hat crew was a little different to a lot of other crews out there. They had no problem occasionally fighting amongst themselves, some form of violence was included in this more often than not.

In fact, it was almost a daily ritual to count the number of times the Cook and the Swordsman threatened (or attempted) to kill each other. This being something that did happen every day if they were within shouting distance of each other, it was an unusual day for the crew when it didn't happen. It was those quiet day when it didn't that the crew knew something heavy emotionally had happened. (Either that, or that they had both fought themselves into a coma against whatever enemies they had recently fought.)

There was also the casual violence shown on a regular basis to their Captain. Such things as hits to the head by the Navigator when he suggested something particularly stupid, or wouldn't shut up about something and kicks from the Cook in an attempt to keep him from eating everything in sight and leaving them without rations, or for lack of manners.

Then there were the other moments of casual violence shown by each of them to most of their other crewmates. Things that they no longer thought of a violence or arguments because they had become the everyday or the light-hearted arguments about the little things that cropped up within any group of people stuck in proximity for any length of time.

But there were also other fights, ones that weren't the everyday, that were a little more serious.

There was that instance where Navigator had come across the destructive fight between the Captain and the Swordsman at Whiskey Peak. It had seemed quite serious at the time, but she hadn't been able to get a coherent reason as to why they were going at each other with such furiousity in the first place. (She had noticed the rather heartfelt "I don't know" when she had asked the swordsman though. But Swordsman was practically the Captain's translator among the crew so he had to know.)

There was also the incident with the Sniper over the Going Merry. That had been one of the most serious fights among the crew that had ever occurred and the most painful to watch. To have to stand there and watch as two (former) crewmates went at each other for the rights to their home had been difficult for all of them, even though some of them had not really allowed themselves to fully understand the consequences of the actions at the time.

Then there was the incident with the Cook and the Yonko. If that could be called a fight when one of the participants wasn't really participating.

But whatever fights or issues the crewmembers may have between each other, if someone from outside tried to pick a fight, the whole crew would happily jump in on it if there were enough to go around. (The one exception to this being that odd incident at Mock Town, but none of the crew that were present will ever talk about it, the Navigator just groans in frustration if ever reminded of it.)
