Flowers of Orb
A soft breeze carried the scents of the salty, ocean water upon the air, along with the gentle fragrance of blooming flowers that decorated the hills in vast numbers, their colours ranging from brilliant purples and pastel pinks, to fiery reds and bright yellows, and a few crisp white one's that merely served to enhance the jewel-like quality that the blossoms seemed to create. Fragile gems that had been planted in memory of those who had lost their lives in Orb.
A figure with messy raven hair and crimson-coloured eyes, surveyed the flora with a sad yet slightly comforted expression, as though the sight brought him happiness but at the same time, hurt his soul.
Shinn Asuka sighed heavily and turned to face the stone memorial, another tribute to the fallen.
It had only been six weeks. Forty-two short days since the war had finally been brought to an end, and it was largely thanks to the people who had been a part of the Three Ships Alliance, a neutral order who had fought for peace in both the first war and in the one that had recently passed...People who Shinn now admired and respected.
It had taken him grief, rage, sadness, friendship, love and a large amount of ignorance and stupidity, to finally understand what they should really be fighting for if they wanted the world to never know suffering like it had in the past years.
He had been so blinded by his hate before, that it had clouded his sense of judgement and made him blind to things he should have realised were wrong, right from he start...However, there was no point in wallowing in what should have been or could have been. In the end, he had finally come to terms with his past and had finally understood that a land of peace was the only thing worth fighting for...A land without sadness or senseless carnage, a land free from tyranny and opression, a land without death or prejudice...A land where Coordinators and Naturals lived together in harmony.
The wind ruffled his dark hair and Shinn closed his eyes.
It would take a while for that kind of peace to be reached and the road towards it would be difficult, but as long as their were people willing to fight for that, as long as their was someone who defied the world's past actions...They would someday reach their goal and true peace would be found. It was only a matter of hard work, determination and time.
Shinn's red eyes opened and his gaze drifted once again over the numerous, multi-coloured flowers that covered the hills around him and he smiled slightly.
Kira was right. Though the flowers may be destroyed by those who didn't care for beauty, they would fight against such injustice and they would replant them...As long as there was someone who was willing to fight. As long as they remained true to their dream, that eternal peace would one day be found.
A/N: Please review. Hopefully I did Shinn's character justice.
