Summary: Georgie Jay Spinelli learns of her namesake
Georgie Spinelli is thirteen years old when her parents sit her down and tell her about what exactly happened to her namesake.
She'd always known her Aunt Georgie was dead. That hadn't been kept from her. She'd also known that the way her aunt had died had been completely tragic. Had known that fact since she was nine. However, her parents hadn't wanted to tell her exactly how the first Georgie had died until they thought that she was old enough to handle it.
Her father brings her back to Port Charles for a family visit and she's surprised when they get to the cemetery. She doesn't question anything, staying silent as she stares curiously at her father as he leads her torward the tombstone her mother is standing in front of. Her beautiful mother, Maxie Jones smiles at the two of them, blue eyes sad as she takes their hands and leads them forward.
Georgie's eyes become fixated on her aunt's name written on the cool, grey rock. She lets out an intake of breath at the date of birth and then the date of death. Of course, she'd known her aunt had been young when she'd died. But it was still a shock to the system to realize that her aunt was seventeen years old. Only four years older than her.
"Did you know that your aunt Georgie loved the winter?" Maxie asked, breaking through her daughter's thoughts as the snow fell lightly around them. "She loved to stare out at the snow. She found it magical. I unfortunately, never found that to be true. Especially not after what happened to your aunt." She smiles gratefully as Spinelli sits beside her, arm wrapping around her shoulders.
Georgie continues to stare, frozen in her spot, not knowing what to say.
"Port Charles had this killer-The Text Message Killer running around the town, killing people. One night, Georgie was out by herself. It was December 17. Close to Christmas. Georgie was strangled to death and your dad found her. I kind of had a feeling that something was going to happen that night. It didn't stop nagging me. And then, Lucky came and told me what happened. I was hysterical. The worst part of it is, the guy who killed your aunt. Who killed all of these people, was her friend."' Her mother said, her eyes on her daughter. "You're finally old enough to know all of this, Gigi. I hope you understand why we didn't tell you what happened before."
Gigi fell to her knees beside her mother, immediately wrapping her arms around her, burying her head in her shoulder. "I'm so sorry, mom." She pulls away and looks from her dad to her mom. "Is that how you two became friends?"
Her dad nods, sad little grin forming upon his lips. "We were trying to find Fair Georgie's killer. Maximista-your mother and I both really wanted to know who killed her. We found out it was Diego Alcazar. Even after finding that out, we stayed friends."
"I wish I could've met her." Gigi said sadly, staring at the stone.
"I wish you could've, too. She'd have loved you. You two are a lot alike." Her mother told her as the three of them stood up. "You have the same type of spirit. You have her smile. Her eyes. People say you look like me because of your hair. But you're truly your aunt's niece."
Her dad smiled and wrapped an arm around the two of them. "Come on. I promised Fair Samantha, Stonecold, and Stonecold jr that I'd bring you to come see them."
The three began to walk away from the gravesite, Gigi looked back for a moment and could've sworn she saw the brief appeance of a girl, forever seventeen, smiling at them happily.
Gigi smiled back and lifted a hand to wave, gaze shocked as she saw the other girl reciprocate it.
