The Stars, My Destination
So here I sit in dead of night,
Far beneath the sky.
Looking at the stars above,
Seeing lights so high.

I see the moon glow brightly,
I see Venus, evening light.
I see all the constellations,
A tapestry of night.

In my mind's eye I see much more,
Jupiter, and Mars.
Saturn, Neptune, Uranus,
Further out my mind is cast.

Vulcan, Qo'noS, Betazed,
On and on I fly.
I see the breadth of charted space,
In the splinter of my eye.
…
But father calls and I return,
To body comes my mind.
Cut off from such majesty,
I feel like I'm blind.
…
But someday I will see the stars,
Worlds of my dreams and more.
Explore the length and breadth of space,
Go where no man's gone before.
