Right, I just started reading Spirit Animals. I don't know if any of you read it. The books are short, and a bit young, but I kinda love of 'em. They're great really! I ultra ship two of the main characters, Rollan and Meilin. You can just TELLL! * Fangirl scream* Anyway, I went to look for Reilin fanfiction right. There is only one Spirit Animals fanfiction. At all. So, I will be the second, and the first Reilin writer! YES!
This is bit of a drabble really, cause it's quite short.
Disclaimer: I do not own Spirit Animals or any of it's involved characters.
Opposites.
That's all Meilin could ever think of to describe them.
She was a rich and cultured girl from a wealthy family in Zhong. He was a poor and filthy orphan off the streets of Amaya. She could play countless instruments, dance like a leaf in the wind, talk with the highest aristocrats, and manage to make opening her parasol look like an art. He couldn't draw a straight line if he had a ruler, preferred forks and a pan to a guitar, and couldn't walk into a store without getting arrested.
He was always talking about his childhood as if was something to be proud of.
The nerve!
She remembered when they had been searching for Rumfuss and his talisman. They had trekked all day and for several hours of night. Eventually Abeke and Conor seemed ready to collapse. Meilin secretly felt the same. Tarik and Finn didn't look much better, but of course he was fine.
He had asked, seemingly surprised. He shrugged,so irritatingly. He had been pointing at a small slope with a cave near by, and a few trees. It was covered in many rocks and didn't look at all comfortable.
Meilin had looked at him disbelievingly. He looked back at her with a smirk.
He asked smugly.
She'd glared at him. She'd walked away to set up her tent, then turned around and grinned at him.
She had spent the rest of the night sleeping on hard sharp rocks only covered by a think sheet of blanket, just to prove him wrong.
Ugh, he was infuriating.
But over time, she grew to add more things to her list of words to describe them. Allies, partners, accomplice, associate...Friend.
Yes, friend.
She remembered what Conor had said after they had caught up to her on her way to Zhong. (I haven't read Blood Ties. This next part is made up.)
"We were all so worried Meilin!" Abeke cried, sighing with relief.
"Oh yeah." Conor agreed. "Especially Rollan. He wouldn't rest until we found you."
"I-I did-I wasn't-I didn't!" Rollan said blushing, his head down. "The rest of you were worried too, so..."
Even their spirit animals seemed to suggest that they were complete opposites. The bird, roaming the sky, and the bear, tied to the ground. The panda with her healing paws, and the eagle, with his scathing talons.
Yin and yang.
Hot and cold.
Opposite spirits.
Meilin and Rollan.
Heh, this is so cheesy. Especially the end. Anyway, Meilin is my favourite character. She's so arrogant, but like to see character growth, so she's interesting.
