My Little Confession

Miles had just finished work after a long day of completing mundane paperwork and fulfilling prosecutorial duties. He was finishing up in his office when suddenly he noticed a small photograph in his desk drawer. He picked it up and rotated it. An instant smile formed on his face. The photograph was of him and Franziska von Karma, his adoptive sister, when they were just children. He stared at the picture as thoughts clouded his mind. After a few moments, Miles put the picture back in the drawer and simply sat there in his office chair; sighing deeply.

Miles had sat in complete silence for at least ten minutes. All that was audible was the distant chatter of his colleagues as they all left work. He swivelled around in his chair and faced the window. The sight he was seeing was beautiful. Having an office on the twelfth floor meant that his office overlooked the city. The sun was setting and the city lights were coming to life. Another five minutes had passed until a knock was heard on the door. He quickly turned around.

"Come in," said Miles.

The door creaked open to a familiar sight. It was none other than Franziska herself.

"Miles Edgeworth. What are you still doing here, you fool? Work is over!" asked Franziska.
He smiled faintly and stood up before walking over to her.
"Ah, Franziska. I was just finishing up here, but..."Miles replied, "I have a small confession to make."

She raised an eyebrow and looked up at Miles and challenged his eyes with her icy glare. Miles simply glared back as his smile widened.
"What is it, Miles Edgeworth?" she asked with a curious tone to her voice.

After pausing for a moment, Miles took Franziska's hands and interlocked their fingers. She blushed deeply and her eyes widened in shock.
"Wh-What are you doing, Miles Edgeworth?! Unhand me at once, y-you fool!" said Franziska as she looked down at their interlocked hands.
"Franziska, I..." he began with a softly spoken tone, "I... love you."

Franziska's mouth dropped open but no words came out. She did not know what to say or how to react but simply gazed into Miles' eyes. Who, too, was blushing now and in his eyes was a small glint as a tear of happiness fell from them.

"Franziska... I have always loved you. We were raised together and we have known each other for most of our lives... You make me very happy." said Miles.
Her mouth closed and a small smile formed on her face. Franziska started to tear up now.
"Y-You fool... I had no idea that you were infatuated with me... I... I return these feelings, Miles Edgeworth.", she replied.

"I am glad you do, Franziska." said Miles as he squeezed her hands lightly.

He gazed into her eyes before leaning in. He planted his lips onto her lips and kissed her deeply. Franziska showed no sign of resisting and they both closed their eyes, sharing a passionate kiss. After a moment, Miles smiled. The smile broke the kiss and was felt by Franziska who smiled as well. They both opened their eyes at the same time and simply gazed into each other's contently.

"I love you and I always will." said Miles.
